The 2020 Tony nominees are already winners... literally. For some, this marks their first nomination, but others have already won Tony Awards in seasons past. We took a look at which nominees have won at least a Tony or two (or seven) - amongst them, they've gathered a total of 42 awards!

Slow Burn Theatre Company is ready to reignite the theatrical scene after a forced pandemic shutdown with a scorching 2021/2022 Season that features five red hot musical blockbusters as kindling: the Florida premieres of recent Broadway hits Once on This Island and Head Over Heels, Broadway fan favorites Kinky Boots and Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical,  and Songs for a New World from one of Broadway's hitmakers. The season is presented by American National Bank, South Florida's premier community bank.

Academy Award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, H.E.R., is currently in final talks to make her feature film debut in the upcoming movie musical adaptation of The Color Purple.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will resume in-person performances when it launches its previously announced 51st season, featuring eight plays and musicals presented October 2021 through August 2022, kicking off with the new indie folk-rock musical Lizard Boy.

Blitz Bazawule will direct the movie, according to Deadline, with a script by Marcus Gardley. 

The lineup includes The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (All for One Theatre Productions), Kinky Boots (MusicalFare Theatre), and Once On This Island (Shea's 710 Theatre). Learn more here!

This clever and charming musical is directed by Resident Artist James Michael McHale and music direction is by Resident Artist Robyn Manion. The show is performing July 9 - August 8, 2021.

March 27 marks World Theatre Day! Although we can't be together to celebrate, we can still reminisce on the fun of theatre in our lives.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

Deadline is reporting that Blitz Bazawule, director of the Beyonce feature Black Is King on Disney+ has signed on to direct the movie musical of the The Color Purple.
