National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line-up of new musicals for their 33rd Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS on Thursday October 20 and Friday, October 21, 2021. This year, NAMT ‘s Festival of New Musicals will be presented as a unique digital and in-person hybrid, allowing wider accessibility for attendees.

When the Alhambra Theatre & Dining last mounted the lovable family-friendly summer show in 2017, Seussical the Musical, it sold every ticket. With the summer heat descending on the north Florida venue and COVID rules lifting a little a bit, the Alhambra is preparing for another sell out run – and just in time for some much-needed summer fun. The Alhambra will open its annual family summer show on June 17.

The Old Globe today announced plans for the long-awaited full reopening of its three theatres in Balboa Park. Audiences will be able to once again gather in the Globe’s outdoor theatre starting June 4 and in the two indoor theatres in September.

Casting has been announced for the first ever UK and Ireland tour of WAITRESS opening at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 4 September 2021. The show will star Lucie Jones as 'Jenna', Sandra Marvin as 'Becky', Evelyn Hoskins as 'Dawn' and Busted's Matt Willis as 'Dr Pomatter'. 

The new hires will succeed Operations Manager James McClellan, who stepped down during the COVID-19 pandemic. They will join current staff members John Pecano, Technical Director, Sarah Jane Demetruk, Education Director, and Merle Ford, Maintenance Manager.

The Festival will welcome back 4 world-class orchestras - the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic & seven leading conductors, including Jaap van Zweden, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Fabio Luisi, to perform live concerts held safely outdoors for in-person audiences.

March 27 marks World Theatre Day! Although we can't be together to celebrate, we can still reminisce on the fun of theatre in our lives.

Piano Bar Live! (PBL!) streams this Tuesday, March 23 at 7:15 pm ET, celebrating St. Louis piano bar and cabaret, co-hosted by Scott Barbarino and Katie Dunne McGrath.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!
