It's a true story. It's a dramatization about a man who moves to Marietta, Georgia, and is falsely convicted of murder. It's his journey of trying to prove his innocence, while simultaneously we see and follow this love story between him and his wife, Lucille.

“For Ren dance is his language.  It’s a form of self-expression – the only way he knows how to express himself and communicate.  When this is taken from him, he doesn’t understand why something so beautiful and alive as dance is not allowed.  He is fighting for self-expression and his very identity.” Actor, dancer, choreographer Tyler Hanes is describing the motivation of FOOTLOOSE’s protagonist Ren McCormack. Hanes, who has a storied resume that includes ten Broadway shows and countless regional credits, has returned to Maine State Music Theatre (which he calls “coming home”) to choreograph their new production of the 1998 musical, FOOTLOOSE, collaborating with director E. Faye Butler.

Footloose is adapted from the 1984 film of the same name, first premiering in 1998. The music is by Tom Snow, Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and adapted to stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. This show celebrates the exhilaration of youth, the wisdom of listening to one another and the power of forgiveness.

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) has announced the film lineup for its 28th edition, themed Pause. The 2025 edition will feature 36 World Premieres, 17 US premieres, 28 east coast debuts, and 44 first-time screenings in NY.
