Audiences in Lincoln, Nebraska are abuzz with news of the current sit down of Back to the Future: The Musical currently playing at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Adapted from the 1985 Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, Back to the Future, the show blends original music seamlessly with iconic songs heard in the film. Featuring original music and lyrics from Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, and a book by Bob Gale, who co-wrote the film with Robert Zemeckis, this musical is sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Following an award-winning production in London, Back to the Future: The Musical moved to Broadway in June 2023 where it is still delighting New York audiences today.

After a public petition and outcry to dim all the lights of Broadway for some recent passings of stage legelends. All Broadway theatres in New York will dim their lights in honor of Adrian Bailey, Gavin Creel, and Maggie Smith.

The ever-iconic musical Les Misérables is making its way back to Wharton Center this week only, October 8th to 13th. BroadwayWorld Michigan had the pleasure of speaking with Nick Cartell, who plays Jean Valjean in the current national tour of Les Misérables.

Adrian Bailey passed away on September 22, 2024, at the age of 67. In a rare tradition that reflects the magnitude of Mr. Bailey’s impact on the Broadway industry and the community, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of one theater from every Theater Owner on Broadway in his honor. Cheyenne Elliott was a preteen clad in a sparkly Limited Too garment when her grandmother, Dionne Warwick, called her up onstage for the first time. Flashback to the mid-2000s at an outdoor summer concert in the New York Metropolitan Area, the pair sang Warwick’s poignant classic, “That’s What Friends Are For.” Since its 1985 release, the song has resonated with generations, performed at grade-school graduations and played as background music to slideshows depicting precious kindergarten memories.
