On October 19, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another talented cast at the Connecticut Cabaret Theatre in Berlin, CT, in a show called RESPECT.  The directing of Kris McMurray and choreography of James J. Moran help bring out the singing and dancing talents in the four woman cast of Maria Soaft, Emily Gray, Erin Liddell, and Erica Whitfield, who are accompanied by the live band of TJ Thompson on keyboard, Jamie Sherwood on guitar, and Tim Urso on percussion.  The voices and harmonies are strong and reflect excellent effort from this cast.  The stage chemistry is tight and it is clear that the actresses are enjoying their roles.

A signalman is haunted by a mysterious figure standing at the mouth of a train tunnel. He's sure it's a warning - but what is it warning against? The Signalman was Charles Dickens' final completed work, written after the writer himself had survived a train crash. This adaptation by Martin Malcolm ('Warped' - VAULT Festival 2019) remains faithful to the original text but also incorporates other aspects of Dickens' writing, including the introduction of Joe the crossing sweeper, who listens as the signalman's tale unfolds.

Put together two super actor/singers to perform The Songs Of Kander & Ebb and it's like Mantle and Maris hitting back to back homers in the world series. Oops, I promised myself I would avoid the Baseball references, however watching Haley Swindal you cannot help but wonder how this enormously talented lady became such an exciting entertainer coming from a sports/business family. Then again, George Steinbrenner did create exciting entertainment for millions with the Yankee franchise and he was also an avid fan and investor in Broadway shows.
