It was the first of the jukebox musicals premiering in 1989.  It was conceived and written in England. It ran in London’s West End for 12 years. The fall 2026 Broadway season has officially begun, with many new productions set to arrive before the end of the year. For six of those shows (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, Other Desert Cities, 860, The Imaginary Invalid, A Few Good Men, The Fantasticks, and Awake and Sing!), Broadway is the first stop, but the other six have have already enjoyed runs all over the world. Broadway says goodbye to Moulin Rouge! The Musical, which concludes its run at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, following 24 previews and 2297 regular performances. The theatre will soon be home to Paddington, which begins performances on March 30, 2027.
