San Francisco Opera Center Announces 2018 Adler Fellows

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the eleven recipients of the 2018 Adler Fellowship. Eight singers, two pianist/apprentice coaches and one director will take part in the program. The multi-year performance-oriented residency offers advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Adler Fellows are selected from the artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program. The prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 175 young artists since its inception. (more...)

Black Theatre Live in co-production with Yellow Earth Theatre and Royal Exchange Manchester has announced that they will tour new play Mountains The Dreams of Lily Kwok, which tells the extraordinary story of the three generations of women behind famous Manchester restaurant Sweet Mandarin. Based on Helen Tse's family memoir, the show will include live cooking onstage, and at selected venues there will be a pre-show cooking demo from Helen and her sister Lisa. Folger Consort Announces Holiday Concert Featuring Seasonal Music of Germany

Folger Consort, the early music ensemble in residence at the Folger Shakespeare Library, performs eleven concerts of Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming: Seasonal Early Music of Germany, Friday, December 15 through December 23, 2017 in the festively decorated Elizabethan theater in the heart of Capitol Hill. Commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the intimate program of seasonal German music from the Renaissance and early Baroque features the music of Praetorius, Sch tz, Schein, among others. Folger Consort artistic co-director Robert Eisenstein will be joined by the vocal ensemble in residence of Washington National Cathedral, Cathedra as well as viol consort Arcadia Viols, and acclaimed organist Adam Pearl. BWW Review: I HATE HAMLET is Great Escapist Fun

I HATE Hamlet is a 1991 comedy by Paul Rudnick, who is best known as the author of Jeffrey and The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. It is a supernatural fantasy inspired by the time when the playwright was living in an apartment in New York that was John Barrymore's old apartment. The play is a throwback to those classic fantasy comedies like Arsenic and Old Lace, Goodbye Charlie and Bell, Book and Candle. There's no real deep message here, just witty and fun escapist entertainment. (more...)
