Four songs into Lauren Robert's show at Iridium this past Tuesday night (her third appearance at the jazz club since last August), she was already producing her usual pulsating, percussive, and passionate presentation of hard-driving blues and soulful pop when the show took a transformative turn and reached a higher ground. The mature, sultry, blue-eyed blonde, whose sound goes beyond blue-eyed soul, put on her Louisiana accent cultivated from years playing down south with her old band, Mojo Hand, and told her audience that the set's fifth song was 'inspired by the swamps and sexy action of N'awlins.' Then Robert and her new band, which included three members of the old gang, really got their mojo going, jumped into a musical swamp boat and navigated through a Robert original called 'Two Alligators' (from Mojo Hand's 1992 album Zulu Parasol), an intense and rhythmic mix of blues, hard rock n' roll, and Zydeco, and that featured a cool background vocal arrangement and Robert playing a washboard-better known as a fotoi (fo-twa)-draped down her chest. Like an alligator, the song stalked and then snapped, and with Noe Matos supplying some frenetic percussion, it was a draw-dropping number that wouldn't let you stop bouncing in your seat.

GREYSON CHANCE has enjoyed a spectacular Chapter 1. After all, how many other artists drew 14 million views to their debut singles on YouTube, not to mention roughly 100 million views on their YouTube page? And performed multiple times on Ellen and other national TV outlets? And headlined in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila and elsewhere in Far Eastern Asia - twice? All before he was 17 years old?

The song is woven vividly into American history – not only as the celebrated anthem of the American Civil Rights Movement of the late 1950s and 1960s, but also as a protest song in the earlier labor movement. Both the history and message of the song resonated with Dropkick Murphys, longtime champions of the downtrodden and the working class.

The release will feature three bonus tracks including the band’s poignant rendition of “We Shall Overcome.” Previously released B-sides, the cover songs “James Connolly” (by Larry Kirwan) and “The Bonny” (by Gerry Cinnamon), are also included in the expanded edition, which will be available in both stereo and 3-dimensional Dolby Atmos mixes.

Ahead of this Father's Day, country music star, Walker Hayes, is launching his 'Be A Craig Fund' as a tribute to a man named Craig who gave Hayes and his family a van when they were struggling to make ends meet. The unexpected and incredibly generous act meant that the Hayes family would finally have a vehicle big enough for all six of their children to travel together safely. Kindness and selflessness are at the heart of the 'Be A Craig Fund' and Hayes' goal is to shine a light on not only those in need but also those who are willing to step-up to help.

Can I be honest for a minute? asks Rayvon Owen, his smooth voice gliding effortlessly over effervescent synths on his song, 'Volume'. It's a fitting opening line to the first single from his forthcoming EP, given that authenticity is a common theme within the Virginian artist's music.

Ahhh, the joys of middle school: three years of bad skin, Mrs. Goldsmith's English class, bullies, popularity contests, and enough deep, emotional scars to fill therapists' offices for years to come. The Gallery Players production of 13: THE MUSICAL, the witty and at times painfully accurate depiction of that delightful time right before high school, is dead on the money.
