Thaddeus Phillips, an internationally acclaimed Theater Director/Designer, and the Creator, Performer and Scenic Designer of his one-man show entitled '17 Border Crossings,' has created a vividly imaginative journey on stage, based on his own intercontinental travelings. Directed by Tatiana Mallarino, the California premiere, after playing in New York, Moscow and Hong Kong to sold out crowds, taxied in to Santa Monica at the Broad Stage, for a two-night run, January 24th and 25th, 2020.

New York Live Arts' Will Present the World Premiere of Colleen Thomas' LIGHT AND DESIRE

New York Live Arts' (Live Arts) Live Feed creative residency and commissioning program presents the world premiere of light and desire, a new evening-length work by the NYC-based dancemaker and professor Colleen Thomas, featuring an ensemble of acclaimed international female performers and artmakers. The piece - anchored by a short film by the award-winning filmmaker Carla Forte - looks at how women artists cope under unjust and manipulative power structures. light and desire will be presented at New York Live Arts Studio (219 W 19th Street, New York, NY 10011) from Wednesday, March 25th through Saturday, March 28th; all performances at 7:30 pm.

'The sudden, shocking death of John Singleton at the age of just 51 in April 2019 robbed the world of a trailblazing, influential and, arguably, somewhat underrated chronicler of Black life on film,' says series programmer Ashley Clark. 'This is both a full retrospective of the late director's characteristically muscular, thought-provoking cinematic output, and a chance to pay tribute to a singular talent.'

DCINY Presents VOCAL COLORS At Carnegie Hall Featuring ZIMBE! – A Choral Arrangement Of African Songs

DCINY (Distinguished Concerts International New York) presents Vocal Colors, a celebration of choral tradition and innovation, featuring composer and conductor Alexander L'Estrange and his popular work Zimbe!, a choral arrangement of traditional African songs performed by an international choir of children and adults and accompanied by a jazz quintet.  At the second act of the evening, conducted by Matthew Melendez, the Great Bend Chorale performs the world premiere of composer John Muehleisen's Borders, commissioned by the choir, and Andrey Stolyarov's Out of the depths. The concert will be held on Friday, May 24, at 7 pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. Tickets start at $20 and may be purchased by visiting DCINY.org.

Caesars Entertainment announced plans today to renovate The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with significant technical and design updates to its landmark venue recognized as Billboard Magazine's “Venue of the Decade.” The Colosseum will undergo an exciting evolution to incorporate a new state-of-the-art sound system, new moving light fixtures and high-definition LED video wall into the technical capabilities of the space, while still preserving the celebrated character and prestige of the iconic theater. Also, the world's top venue of its size will now be able to facilitate multiple seating arrangements, including VIP banquettes with bottle service and a general admission setup on the main floor, to accommodate many genres and entertainment experiences for guests through the city's only automated lift seating system.

Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival Announces Public Installation Artists For May 2019 In Toronto

Today, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival announced their public installation program for the 23rd edition of the city-wide event spanning the month of May 2019. Renowned American artist Carrie Mae Weems will create three separate site-specific installations at outdoor venues downtown, representing the first time she has shown her work at this scale in Canada. These installations are presented in conjunction with exhibitions at the CONTACT Gallery and the Art Museum at the University of Toronto.

Gianfranco Terrin, a native of Naples who trained in Los Angeles at the Lee Strasberg Institute, is the director of the new Hollywood production. and is probably best known for his work on The Disney Channel's 'Movie Surfers' as well as in other Italian and American films. But his decision to present caricatures rather than believable characters takes this seemingly under-rehearsed comedy into the realm of farce.
