DanceWorks opens its 2018-19 season with a new work from Montreal's acclaimed RUBBERBANDance Group, choreographed by its Artistic Director, Victor Quijada. With Ever So Slightly, Quijada delves into new territory as he explores change and how it happens in this startling 70-minute work that runs for two nights only - Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12 - at Harbourfront Centre's Fleck Dance Theatre preceding its Montreal premiere.

This September features many new titles coming to Amazon Prime. Prime Original series King Lear will become available on Prime Video on September 28th. Other Prime Originals coming to the service in September include series premieres of Six Dreams (Sep 7) and Forever (Sep 14) as well as season 1a of Pete the Cat (Sep 7) and season 2b of Wishenpoof (Sep 7). Additionally, you can catch season two of PBS's hit British series Victoria starting August 25 on Prime Video.

But, for two handfuls of miniature musicians, the major assignment this school year is rocking around the country in the first national tour of SCHOOL OF ROCK, now onstage at the Music Hall at Fair Park, which concludes Dallas Summer Musicals 2017-2018 Broadway series. And even when the star teacher fails to make the grade, the kiddos pull together to ace the group project.

The Kimmel Center & Joe's Pub Join Forces

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and Joe's Pub at The Public join forces once again for the Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the tutelage of Jay Wahl, Producing Artistic Director of the Kimmel Center, and Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, the program serves as an incubator for artists and their collaborators to create and develop music and theater projects. The program will be held in the Kimmel Center's SEI Innovation Studio (300 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA) from June 18-30 with Public Readings, free and open to the public, on June 29 and 30. Readings will be followed by Q&A sessions with the artists.

Today this father of two and grandfather of six, who made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut in 2005, is now the patriarch of a three-generation musical dynasty.

TV One's longest-running and five-time NAACP Image Award winning series, Unsung, will launch its thirteenth season on Sunday, May 20 at 9 p.m. ET, kicking off with the story of the iconic musical group Mtume. This incomparable super-mix of boundary-busting music from around the corner and around the world features ten hours of rare performances by some of the most innovative musicians of our time, side-by-side with some of today's most pioneering young artists. This year, the Bang on a Can Marathon will be streamed via Facebook Live on Bang on a Can's Facebook page and at bangonacan.org. The profound influence of Elliott Smith (1969-2003) continues to echo long after his death, and to honor and explore the music of this Portland icon, Third Angle New Music has commissioned 6 leading young composers to reimagine his repertoire. In a blockbuster collaboration, Hand2Mouth & Third Angle will create an evening-length performance piece that illustrates and celebrates Smith's musical talents and legacy. This project aspires to give a new perspective on Smith's music for those lucky enough to know him or see him live, those who lived with him through his music and those who have not yet heard any of his songs.

Israeli Artist Ronen Sharabani Headlines SXSW Art Program With Large-Scale Installation

Ronen Sharabani, an international, multidisciplinary, prominent Israeli artist, has been selected as a featured artist for this year's SXSW Art Program presented by Meural. His 2017 project titled, 'Conductors and Resistance,' will be showcased this week during SXSW at the Austin Convention Center in Meeting Room 3 and is open to all SXSW official badge holders. The installation, which will be open to view to SXSW attendees until Saturday, March 17, is supported by United studios Israel, The-Artery, BARCO and NIIO. For information, please see here.
