The sultry soul duo Tanya Holt and Robert H. Fowler celebrate the US release of their UK chart-hopping album 'Can We?' in a special one-night only engagement at The Green Room 42 at Yotel, 570 Tenth Avenue, 4th floor on Saturday October 20 at 9:30pm. While their project sheds multiple hits on various charts in the UK and internationally (three singles have earned Top 5 positions, including on the official UK Soul chart) Holt and Fowler, who both hail from New York (she's from Queens; he's from the Bronx), have just released the album here. According to album producer Dwayne C. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director), recipient of the Regional Theatre Tony Award in 2016, launches its 80th milestone season with The Color Purple, directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle. The Color Purple is the Tony Award-winning musical revival based upon the novel written by Alice Walker and the Warner Bros./Amblin Entertainment motion picture with a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray. On October 5, a new title joins the genre when A Star Is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, is released. A LONELY VOICE - The Lyrics of Robert Gould Comes to the Union Theatre

After sold out shows in April 2018 and May 2017, lyricist Robert Gould will return to the Union Theatre at 7.30pm on October 21 with A LONELY VOICE, a concert of songs with his lyrics performed by a cast of West End and Off-West End musical theatre performers (from the casts of shows such as Tina The Musical, Little Shop Of Horrors and Wicked). The concert will feature a showcase of songs from "Cleopatra", a brand new musical-in-development by Robert Gould and Lyndon Samuel, as well as an eclectic mix of musical theatre, indie pop and folk/rock numbers with music penned by composers from the UK, USA, Sweden, Israel and the Netherlands, including Tristan Bons, Alex James Ellison, Alexander Engstrom, Dean Heller, Ty Kroll, Omri Lahav, Ben Messenger, Christopher J. Gabrielle Lee will play Bricktop in Greenbrier Valley Theatre's World Premiere of Ada 'Bricktop' Smith -Legend of the Jazz Age, a one-woman play with music that celebrates and chronicles the life of Ada 'Bricktop' Smith; written by Cathey Sawyer and musical direction by Kermit Medsker. Born in Alderson, West Virginia, Bricktop a singer and dancer, rose to fame as a nightclub owner during the Jazz Age. She opened Chez Bricktop's in Paris in 1926, and eventually became the darling of Paris nightlife and nicknamed the 'Doyenne of Cafe Society.' (more...)
