Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced the full cast and creative team for the world premiere musical, Goddess. The musical stage production is conceived and directed by Saheem Ali, music and lyrics by Michael Thurber, and written by Jocelyn Bioh. Previews begin Saturday, August 13, and the show runs through Sunday, September 25.

Syracuse Stage has announced casting for the world premiere of How to Dance in Ohio, a new musical inspired by Alexandra Shiva’s Peabody Award-winning documentary of the same name. Redhouse will close its 2021-22 season with Tony Award nominated musical comedy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which will run from June 10-19, 2022. The show will be directed by Maha McCain and star Fred Grandy (The Love Boat) along with Broadway actor Richard Barth.

Pasadena Playhouse presents the West Coast premiere of Ann – written by and starring Holland Taylor and directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein from March 22 through April 24; the press opening is Saturday, March 26.

Redhouse Arts Center’s 2021-22 Main Stage Season has been announced, featuring the remounting of a previously cancelled show. With every production this season, Redhouse will utilize its versatile theatre space not only treat audiences to a thrilling theatre experience but allow for social distancing and a safe return back to live theater.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that Broadway veteran Merwin Foard recently passed away at 59 years old. Born September 16, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Foard was last seen on Broadway in Aladdin as a standby for Jafar/Sultan.
