New Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre company in residence at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, announces that Artistic Director Jim Petosa will step down from his leadership position (held since 2012) at the end of the 2018-2019 Season. Theatre Royal Bath Announces Season of Premieres from the Americas

Theatre Royal Bath today announces A Season of UK Premieres from the Americas at the Ustinov Studio opening next month. The Model Apartment by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Laurence Boswell will run from 22 November to 22 December with opening night for press on 28 November. This will be followed by Tanya Barfield's play with music, Blue Door, directed by Eleanor Rhode from 7 February to 9 March 2019, and a third production, to be announced, will complete the season. AboutFACE Ireland Announce Selected Plays For NEWvember New Plays Festival

AboutFACE Ireland have announced the final selections for the 2018 NEWvember New Plays Festival Dublin – a showcase of original plays to be held at The New Theatre in Dublin's city centre, November 8-10 2018. The announcement was made by AboutFACE Co-Artistic Directors Anna Nugent and Paul Nugent. NEWvember Dublin will feature these works over a three-day weekend, presented via rehearsed readings. After 5 years of NEWvember Festivals in New York, this is the 2nd year the event will be held in Dublin. The spirit of NEWvember is to provide a dynamic, interactive and welcoming place where writers can hear their plays read by seasoned actors, and discuss their work and creative process. It was also announced that many of this year's playwrights will be in attendance, and will take part in post show Q&As, including writers travelling from the US. (more...)

Playwrights Horizons Announces Live For Five Lottery For Heather Raffo's NOURA

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) will, from today, November 12, through Thursday, November 15, accept entries for the Live for Five online lottery, giving out $5 tickets to the New York premiere production of Noura, from 9 Parts of Desire playwright and actor Heather Raffo and director Joanna Settle. The Washington Post deemed this "epic-feeling, nearly searing portrait of a woman torn between cultures and family" the "best premiere of the Women's Voices Theater Festival" when it made its world premiere in Washington, D.C. earlier this year. Produced in association with Shakespeare Theatre Company, it will be performed at Playwrights Horizons from November 27 to December 30. Playwrights Horizons created Live for Five in 2007 as part of their Arts Access program to reach out to those who may not be able to afford the cost of a full-price theater ticket. Since its inception, over 3,000 theatergoers have been able to attend the theater thanks to the initiative. (more...)

Tennessee Williams Literary Festival Announces Today's Events

Particularly in light of the 2016 documentary I Am Not Your Negro, author and civil rights activist James Baldwin is garnering new attention and appreciation for his astute analyses of race, class, and sexuality in U.S. culture. Our reading group will take up his groundbreaking semi-autobiographical first novel, Go Tell It on the Mountain (1953). Attendees are invited to read this seminal text that brought mid-20th Century African-American literature out of the shadow of Richard Wright while deftly exploring the post-Civil War Great Migration, its southern roots, its religious inflections, and its generational tensions. The suggested edition is the most recent paperback (ISBN 978-0345806543). Traditional New Orleans fare of coffee and beignets at Muriel's Jackson Square with lively discussion to follow led by Festival favorite and Southern literary scholar Gary Richards. Hong Kong Repertory Theatre Presents A Contemporary German Comedy DIE FIRMA DANKT

As a new economic era arrives, traditional corporations go through drastic transformations to reinvent themselves. Do those who have been with the company for a long time stand firm to defend the old existing system, or do they accept the new changes? Exploring the subject of office politics, particularly the ideological clash between the new and old generations within companies, Die Firma dankt is written by German playwright Lutz Hubner together with Sarah Nemitz. This satirical work is filled with brilliantly dark humour, and it has garnered enthusiastic acclaims when performed in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. The current version is translated by Tang Wei, with Cantonese adaption by Weigo Lee who also directs this production. The main cast includes Chris Sun, Wang Wei, Karrie Tan, Lo Ka Nang and Fanny Shum, and the performances will be staged at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre from 6 to 22 July. She is a six-time Tony award nominee for her roles in The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Collected Stories and The Lyons. In 2011, Linda Lavin released her first album, Possibilities, a collection of jazz standards and show tunes.My Second Farewell Concert features Billy Stritch, her music director, and her husband Steve Bakunas at the drums.
