The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) is celebrating its 60th anniversary this month, commemorating the moment in 1965 when it opened its doors as the nation's first public arts conservatory.

Norma Bengell, O Brasil em Revista celebrates the career of Norma Bengell (1935–2013), actress, singer, director, and muse of Cinema Novo. With a play by Aimar Labaki and a performance by Amanda Acosta, the show recreates key moments in the artist's life, blending memories, musical revues, and songs ranging from Bossa Nova to international hits, as well as three new songs. The performance is free and part of SESI-SP's cultural program.

The 2011 musical Hairspray, based on the 1988 film, tells the story of teen Tracy Turnblad, whose sole goal in life is to become a dancer on Baltimore’s Corny Collins Show. 

Theatre By The Sea will continue its 92nd season with the high-energy Broadway hit Hairspray, running from July 23 through August 16, 2025. The production marks the return of the beloved musical to the Wakefield stage, where it was last seen in 2011.
