Tamarie Cooper Directs The Catastrophic Theatre's Season Opener, TRAGEDY, A TRAGEDY 

Avant-rock singer-songwriter/producer KRISTEENYOUNG has always done things her own way, including self-designing all of her stage costumes, and now she invites listeners to come along on her most experimental and emotional journey yet with the release of her ninth album The SubSet outTODAY (September 4, 2019). Her two touchstones for the making The SubSet are opera and beatnik, but as Kristeen explains, 'kinda sideways and distorted.' 'The album features her energetic blends of hard-hitting instrumentals, operatic vocals, and raw, incendiary lyrics which gives her music a theatrical flair and helps elevate its urgency.

To kick off a season framed upon remembrance, resistance, and restitution, Corrib Theatre presents the Northwest Premiere of Patricia Burke Brogan's Eclipsed, directed by Corrib Artistic Director Gemma Whelan. Plumbing this appalling, Ireland-specific institution that's a shockingly relevant parallel to current U.S. incarceration and immigration practices, as well as reproductive rights policy, the all-female cast includes Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, Lorraine Bahr, Wynee Hu, Sasha Neufeld, Dainichia Noreault, Lucy Paschall, and Jamie Rea. Eclipsed runs for four weeks, September 20 through October 13, at New Expressive Works, 810 SE Belmont St., in Portland, Oregon.

The award-winning New York Neo-Futurists will share their wisdom this fall when they offer their Level One Workshop: Function and Fundamentals. This workshop is twelve hours long, stretching over three Saturdays from September 21st to October 5th; all taking place at the 520 8th Ave. location of Ripley-Grier Studios.

Huntington Theatre Company announced today that tickets to The Purists are now on sale to the general public. The Stratford Festival of Ontario may be known first and foremost for mounting productions of Shakespeare's plays, but there are certain plays by the bard that only seem to come around once in a while. For example, HENRY VIII, a play written by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher, has only been performed three other times in the history of the Stratford Festival--the last one being in 2004. This season, director Martha Henry has created a production of this play that feels relevant and exciting. Stunning performances by Jonathan Goad and Irene Poole elevate it event further.
