Two years ago, I revisited French Woods Festival of the Arts (which I attended from 1999 to 2002 as a camper/teen actor and then as an assistant director/stage manager) and BroadwayWorld kindly published an article I wrote about the experience. In light of my responsibilities at work (attorney by day, theater critic by night) and at home (including a hyperactive toddler and commuting daily between NY and NJ), I was not planning on visiting again this past summer, but that instantly changed when I learned that the camp was planning on presenting 1776 for the first time in nearly two decades - and with an all-female cast.

Evelyn 'Champagne' King, one of the most prolific R&B artists of our time and Grammy® Award winner will showcase her mega hit singles 'SHAME', 'I'M IN LOVE' and 'LOVE COME DOWN',  with her 5-piece band and back up singers as headliner for Halloween Palm Springs Thursday, October 31. Palo Alto Players continues its 2019-20 season with A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL, the 2013 Tony-nominated musical based on the 1983 beloved film that follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams.

Broadway Records will release Michael Longoria's new studio album, Like They Do In The Movies, digitally and in stores tomorrow, Friday, October 11, 2019. The album is currently available for pre-order at www.BroadwayRecords.com.

Lincoln Center Theater, under the direction of André Bishop, has announced it will produce a new musical during its 2019-2020 season. FLYING OVER SUNSET, with a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, will feature choreography by Michelle Dorrance, and will begin previews March 12, 2020 and open on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton and Tony Yazbeck will head the cast with additional casting to be announced at a later date.

Firestone Theatre's new season of plays and musicals sets the bar pretty high with a variety of student opportunities and outstanding guest directors.

Notable graduates from Baldwin Wallace University will band together on August 26 to honor the life of fellow grad Kyle Jean-Baptiste, the Les Miserables cast member who tragically passed away in 2015. Jean-Baptiste was the youngest, and the first African-American actor, to play the leading role of a?oeJean Valjeana?? on Broadway. The Kyle Jean-Baptiste Foundation, which was founded in 2016 in his name, supports and provides opportunities of enrichment and learning to empower youth, families, and communities through the Arts.

Richmond Triangle Players launches its 2019-20 season with the Tony-Award winning musical Falsettos, opening Friday September 6, 2019, at 8 pm, following two low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday, September 4 and 5 at 8 pm. The production will run five weeks, through Saturday, October 5.
