BWW Review: 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL at Tibble Teater, Täby, Stockholm

In 1980 the film '9 to 5' about the secretaries who rebelled against their CEO when they were tired of his behavior, was a blockbuster at the cinemas worldwide. The film may well be seen as a classic because Dolly Parton's lead motive became such a success. Ten years ago, it opened as a musical in Los Angeles with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and script by Patricia Resnick. In 2009 it opened on Broadway for a short period of time and has been played for example in England and in a couple of places in Germany and will open on January 28, 2019 at Savoy, West End in London. But the 23rd of November it was premiered at Tibble Theatre outside Stockholm, produced and directed by Robin Karlsson. (more...)

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN at ACCC to Reunite Director and Star After Almost 20 Years

In an act of theatrical symmetry, full of the 'whimsical magic' only live performance can provide, the first production of Arts Center of Cannon County's 2019 Season - the stage version of Singin' in the Rain - will reunite the director with his leading actress, whom he first cast in her very first musical when she was nine years old. It's been almost 20 years since the last time veteran director Jeffrey Ellis initially worked with Lindsey Mapes Duggin, the director of education for Arts Center of Cannon County, who will lead the cast of Singin' in the Rain as its heroine, young star-to-be Kathy Selden, as well as taking on the role of producer. In 2015, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre added a new holiday production to its Children's Theatre collection with the world premiere of its original musical comedy The Great Elf Adventure. Bob Greenblatt Addresses the Nudity in HAIR LIVE and Hints at Live Christmas Musical for NBC

Bob Greenblatt, who will soon bring a live staging of the musical Hair to NBC in May, will accept the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award at the 16th annual NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) Conference in Miami, where other honorees include Byron Allen, Mara Brock Akil, Rita Moreno, Betty White and Henry Winkler.
