Lakewood Playhouse presents Ntozake Shange’s landmark choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf. This powerful production features seven women as they share their personal stories through a blend of poetry, dance, music, and song. Directed by Michelle N. Matlock, the play aims to uplift and celebrate the resilience of Black women, transforming poignant narratives into a ritual of remembrance and empowerment. The cast includes Canae Machelle, Courtnee Ramos, Kristina Dustan, La Chelle Heard, Lindsey T. H. Jackson, and Nyah Hart, with understudies ShaVanety Jones and Sylvia Musselman.
