This week, Seattle Opera announced its new recital series, Songs of Summer, which will bring beloved singers to a new stagea?"your phone, tablet, or computer screen. Beginning weekly on May 28, recitals will be available to stream on Seattle Opera's website, Facebook, and YouTube.  
ArtsFund Invests $4.8M In Grants And Releases New Data On COVID-19 Impact On Cultural Nonprofits

Responding to COVID-19's devastating impacts on the nonprofit arts and cultural sector in the Central Puget Sound Region, ArtsFund announces grants to arts and cultural nonprofits totaling $4,831,100. This total includes both an early distribution of ArtsFund's keystone annual operating support grants as well as emergency support payments from ArtsFund's COVID-19 Arts Emergency Relief Fund. All grants are unrestricted. Today's announcement brings ArtsFund's total grant making since its launch in 1969 to nearly $89 million.

Seattle Opera Receives $2.3 Million Federal Loan

Yesterday, Seattle Opera received a $2.3 million loan under the federal Payroll Protection Program (PPP), a federal government stimulus program. Seattle Opera had previously announced the cancellation of its May La bohème performances, along with the loss of employment for everyone involved with the production. On March 25, the company also announced furloughs for 12 administrative staff and pay reductions for the remaining staff who earn more than $50,000 annually.

As of April 24, 2020, Artist Trust has distributed $350,000 in rapid relief funding to WA State artists through their COVID-19 Artist Trust Relief Fund. This fund was established quickly in mid-March 2020 to provide funding for artists of all disciplines in Washington State whose livelihoods were severely impacted by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
