Yerba Buena Center for the Arts to Present Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite

In collaboration with Ghiberti Foundation at Grace Cathedral, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) is pleased to present Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite, a monumental choral work organized by renowned singer-composer Holcombe Waller. Making its San Francisco debut, Requiem Mass honors and invokes the peaceful repose of those who have suffered persecution due to their sexual orientation or gender expression. Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite will have a two-night engagement in the historic Grace Cathedral Episcopal Church on Friday and Saturday, November 16-17, 2018, at 7:30PM.
RAWdance ROARs Into 15th Season with Triple Bill Next January

In celebration of its 15th anniversary next year, RAWdance is proud to announce ROAR, a triple bill featuring two world premieres, January 24 – 26, at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in San Francisco. Rounding out the program is a remount of Brilliant Alarm, which premiered last year as part of YBCA's Transform Fest. Tickets, $25 - $40, will go on sale November 6 at YBCA.org. Roar is presented in association with YBCA.

BroadwayWorld has a first look at San Francisco Opera's new production of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, with a cast led by Italian soprano Carmen Giannattasio in her Company and role debuts as Tosca, tenor Brian Jagde as Cavaradossi and baritone Scott Hendricks as Baron Scarpia with conductor Leo Hussain leading the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus in his first performances with the Company. Puccini's monumental work, which has a distinguished history at San Francisco Opera, will be staged by American director Shawna Lucey with new sets and costumes designed by Robert Innes Hopkins and built entirely in San Francisco Opera's scenic and costume shops. THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS features a book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, and music and lyrics by Carol Hall. 42nd Street Moon's production runs from October 3 - 21, 2018 and will perform at San Francisco's Gateway Theatre (formerly the Eureka Theatre). The Marsh Berkeley Cabaret announces the extension of Alicia Dattner's (The Oy of Sex) standup comedy show, One Life Stand, the modern girl's guide to enlightenment and other disorders. With her ukulele, Dattner will share everything from how to floss sexy, how to tell if you love a love-avoidant, how to spot a narcissist in the wild, and how to win at heteronormative dating. She also muses on which Amazon to save, drinking at yoga, sleeping while meditating, nonduality in bed, and accidental enlightenment. Dattner's all-encompassing guide, One Life Stand, will be presented October 6-27, 2018 with performances 8:30pm Saturdays at The Marsh Berkeley Cabaret, 2120 Allston Way, Berkeley.
