Circus Finelli Closes FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT’S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION, 4/25
San Francisco's all-women clown troupe, Circus Finelli, will close the return limited engagement of its lauded comedy show FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT'S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION on April 25th. Featuring live music and clowning inspired by European circus and American vaudeville, FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT'S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION is a one-of-a-kind circus comedy experience performed by four of the Bay Area's most talented clown artists (Luz Gaxiola, Mahsa Matin, Molly Shannon, and Verka Zaskodna).
In FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT'S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION, rigid ringmistress Frau Bachfeifengesicht's circus careens into (hilarious) chaos. Hailed as "an Alice in Wonderland experience of the purest order...funny and exciting...delightful" by the SF Bay Times, this irreverent circus comedy of dazzling disaster features classic vaudeville-style music and comedy, slapstick clowning, acrobatics, and knife juggling, in addition to performances on unicycle, telephone juggling, and paddleball. The world-famous dancing cow "Martiqua" makes a special appearance in this brilliant circus cabaret, as well as "The Great Alecko," the strongest man on Earth. Accordions, trombones, and ukuleles played simultaneously provide a live score to the show in an amazing feat of musical dexterity, and a lady stuck in a barrel highlights what the San Francisco Bay Guardian called a "smartly funny variety show." This 60-minute comedy circus gone awry will have everyone laughing on The Edge of their seats.
Circus Finelli is San Francisco's all-women clown troupe, specializing in circus comedy with a vaudeville aesthetic. Formed by four multi-talented women clowns, Luz Gaxiola, Molly Shannon, Elizabeth "Z" Smith, and Verka Zaskodna, who met at San Francisco Circus Center's Clown Conservatory in 2004, Circus Finelli has made it their mission to make people laugh. Named in tribute to the internationally-renowned acrobat, juggler, teacher, New Circus pioneer, and co-founder of Circus Center, Judy Finelli, Circus Finelli has performed their physical comedy rooted in the ancient art of silliness in the United States and Europe.
