La Jolla Playhouse Extends Run Dates for Select 2015-16 Shows, Including New Musical from Robert Lopez & Kristen-Anderson Lopez

Due to the incredible demand for subscriptions to the 2015/2016 season, La Jolla Playhouse announces a week-long extension for its first two season productions: Come from Away, a world-premiere musical written and composed by David Hein and Irene Sankoff, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, as well as for Up Here, a world-premiere musical comedy directed by Alex Timbers (Playhouse's Peter and the Starcatchers), featuring book, music and lyrics by the husband-and-wife team of Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who took home the Academy and Grammy Awards for Best Song with their mega-hit "Let It Go" from the Disney animated film Frozen. Come from Away will now run May 29 - July 5 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, and Up Here will now run July 28 - September 6 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.

Following the announcement last year of the retirement of CEO Donald Telford, San Diego Theatres (SDT) today announced the hiring of a new President and Chief Executive Officer. Telford is retiring after nearly 40 years with SDT, the organization that manages the Civic Theatre and the historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego. In his role as CEO, Telford orchestrated the formation of SDT into an independent entity, ensuring that San Diego residents and visitors continue to have access to top-rate entertainment experiences.

The Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation presents Missoula Children's Theatre production of The Little Mermaid. The FREE week-long theatre camp for children ages 5 to 18, kicked off at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts on March 2nd. The production begins performances today, March 7th at 3pm and 7 pm. Within one week, children will participate in a full musical theater production from auditions, to rehearsals to a full-scale production for an audience.

The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare, a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world's most treasured books. The Folger Shakespeare Library, in partnership with Cincinnati Museum Center and the American Library Association, is touring a First Folio of Shakespeare in 2016 to all 50 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.

The Old Globe is delighted to welcome one of the true geniuses of the American theatre, Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, who makes her long-awaited San Diego directing debut with an enchanting theatrical spectacle with live music and sumptuous visuals, The White Snake, continuing the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. The Southern California Premiere of The White Snake, written and directed by Zimmerman, will run March 21 through April 26 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run March 21 through 25. Opening night is Thursday, March 26 at 8:00 p.m.
