As the 2019 Summer Shakespeare Festival kicks off, The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team with As You Like It, the Bard's fabulously charming romantic comedy, whose heroine is one of his most remarkable creations. Director Jessica Stone's recent body of work-including Barefoot in the Park, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and Arms and the Man-has had Globe audiences rolling in the aisles. Her Shakespearean directing debut will run June 16 - July 21, 2019 outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run June 16-21 with opening night on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

From Off-Broadway, North Coast Rep presents WIESENTHAL, a play by Tom Dugan directed by Jenny Sullivan. His 90-minute play is heartfelt, deeply moving and compelling; he makes history come alive. Simon Wiesenthal was a Jewish Austrian Holocaust survivor who became a Nazi hunter after the war. He spent his life tracking down and gathering information on fugitive Nazi war criminals so they could be brought to trial. He was affectionately called 'The Jewish James Bond,' as he recounts his life, like a gripping spy thriller, and how he solved his most sensational cases.

Point Loma Playhouse wraps its 2019 season with The Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt.  The Fantasticks had its premiere opening in 1960 and remained on the New York stage through 2002 making it the longest running musical ever with 17, 162 performances. A 2006 revival ran for another 4,390 performances.

The Welk Resort Theatre's production of "Menopause The Musical" has earned rave reviews and has now added three more shows to its run, now playing through Sunday, June 9. Performances are Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m.  Ticket prices for "Menopause The Musical" are $55 for performance only and $75 to include a pre-show three course meal at the Welk Resort's Canyon Grille Restaurant.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of What You Are, a Globe-commissioned new play by JC Lee and the second show in the 2018-2019 Season developed in the Powers New Voices Festival. Directed by Patricia McGregor, What You Are will run May 30 - June 30, 2019 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run May 30 - June 5.
