Love, Lies, & Brunch is a sizzling new stage play written by Niyah Moore, directed by Anthony D'Juan and Niyah Moore, that blends humor, secrets, and unexpected twists over everyone’s favorite weekend ritual... brunch. Set in a lively restaurant, sisterhood is tested and truths come to light as mimosas flow and the conversation gets a little too real.

Kali
Dr. DREAM is an actress, cultural critic, and scholar whose work spans stage, screen, and digital media. She has starred as Lady in Yellow in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf and appeared on KQED, BET, a stand in for ABC News Studios’ Murder Has Two Faces. Holding a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, she is also a Professor of Ethnic Studies whose work centers African diasporic history and cultural production, with her groundbreaking dissertation Hyphy Intellect being the first academic documentation of the Bay Area’s Hyphy Movement.


Muganzo

Sahara
“Muganzo” is an entertainer, educator, and entrepreneur who believes in the power of Black ingenuity being the historical catalyst for global justice and creative inspiration. As an entertainer, she uses her roles as an actor and producer to showcase her love for Black people, cultures, and complex narratives to move culture forward and remind people to look deep inside themselves for the answers they seek. She is honored to be cast as “Sahara” and deeply connects with her desire to be loved, seen, and supported by the world around her; most importantly, her baby sister.


Shane Brady

Waiter
Shane Brady is a Sacramento actor with a growing reputation in the local theater scene. He most recently brought the unforgettable Frank Blue, a charismatic trumpet player, to life in Niyah Moore’s production Major Jazz. His earlier stage work includes a compelling role in Three Musketeers. Shane continues to build his craft and presence on stage, delighting local audiences with his vibrant performances.

Niyah Moore

Playwright & Director
Niyah Moore is an award-winning author, playwright, and director from Sacramento, California. She has published over 60 novels, novellas, and short stories, with work featured by major publishers, including Simon & Schuster and Kensington Publishing. Known for her captivating storytelling and dynamic characters, Niyah’s work spans romance, suspense, and contemporary fiction. She is also the writer and director of the stage plays, Tinker the Toy Maker (2024) and Major Jazz (2025).


Anthony D'Juan

Director
Anthony D’Juan is a Sacramento-based playwright and director whose career has spanned the stage since 1996. From 1997 to 2005, he served as assistant and protégé to acclaimed theater artist Ed Claudio, an experience that shaped his artistic voice and vision. As a playwright, Anthony’s works include Theory of the Dream, Safe at Home: The Jackie Robinson Story, Keeping the Dream Alive, Men in Riffs, 3: Black Girl Blues (co-written with Danielle Moné Truitt), This Is How It Happened, The Purveyors, Us & The Rest of ’Em, Birdmocking, and Any’Person. His directing portfolio is equally expansive, featuring productions such as Suburbia, Othello, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, A Clockwork Orange (The Musical), Endgame (winner of Best Drama, 2004), Bash, Our Town, The Seagull, The Dumb Waiter, and the world premiere of A Tiger Without Mercy. He has helmed acclaimed productions at theaters across Sacramento, including Bootycandy and Skeleton Crew (Big Idea Theater); The Mountaintop, Pass Over, and The Royale (Capital Stage); and Topdog/Underdog and Direct from Death Row: The Scottsboro Boys (Celebration Arts Theater). His work also includes directing 3: Black Girl Blues at The Sofia, home of B Street Theatre.


Koko Mayes

Stage Manager
Koko Mayes is a proud Sacramento native and devoted mother of three. She stepped into the world of stage management in 2025 with Major Jazz and quickly fell in love with the art of bringing productions to life behind the scenes. Koko is excited to share her passion and dedication with the cast and crew of Love, Lies, & Brunch.


Nashay Bouie

Costume Designer
Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Nashay Bouie discovered her passion for fashion as a young girl, designing Barbie doll clothes out of socks in her bedroom. What began as playful creativity quickly blossomed into a lifelong pursuit of artistic expression through style. Today, Nashay uses fashion as a bold medium to explore identity, emotion, and storytelling. Splitting her time between Sacramento and Los Angeles, Nashay has styled a diverse roster of industry professionals including Tami Roman, Mona Scott-Young, Liane V, Don Benjamin, and singer/songwriter Candice. Her work has graced the runways of Sacramento Fashion Week, as well as her own immersive productions under Elysium Live. Nashay has recently expanded her portfolio to include costume design, bringing her unique vision to the theatrical stage. She has designed costumes for acclaimed productions such as For Colored Girls by Ntozake Shange, Tinker the Toy Maker, Major Jazz, and Love, Lies, and Brunch—written and directed by Niyah Moore. Her keen attention to detail and ability to blend character with couture have made her a standout in this new arena. Known for her eclectic fusion of high fashion and streetwear, Nashay's work is marked by dynamic textures, unexpected pairings, and visually arresting compositions. Her funky and innovative aesthetic continues to open doors in both the fashion and entertainment industries. With every look, scene, and style story, Nashay Bouie affirms her commitment to inspiring others and turning fashion into an unforgettable experience.
