BWW Reviews: 2nd Story Opens New Space with Funny, Thoughtful LOBBY HERO

As a theater company grows in success and reputation, expansion is to be expected. Whether it's growth into new and different types of productions, educational programs or physical spaces, change is only natural. For 2nd Story Theater in Warren, growth and expansion have arrived this season, in the form of a new, smaller, more intimate space downstairs in their Market Street home. For the first show in the new downstairs space, they have chosen Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero, which turns out to be a pleasing and safe way to begin the life of a new theatrical stage.

Trinity Repertory Company's Young Actors Studio boasts new and favorite classes for fall. Students can experience all aspects of theater through a range of classes including Musical Theater Dance, Trinity Technicians and Playreading Aloud! Trinity Rep welcomes new teaching artist Jamie Arnold for Musical Theater Dance, and offers Playreading Aloud! for free. Trinity Technicians not only gives a backstage look at Trinity Rep productions, but tuition includes tickets to every show. There is still time to enroll for the coming fall session. Trinity Repertory Company has announced that in tandem with the depression era drama, The Grapes of Wrath, they are partnering with the RI Blood Center for a Blood Drive on Friday, September 13th from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Trinity Repertory Company, 201 Washington St in Providence in order to raise awareness and urge donations. All pre-registered donors will get a free ticket to a performance of The Grapes of Wrath, onstage now through October 6 at Trinity Rep. The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) in collaboration withRhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) is pleased to announce the creation of the Rhode Island Teaching Artists Center (RITAC) aimed at connecting Rhode Island-based teaching artists with job opportunities in the public and private sector. The center, funded by a $29,900 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation, will be housed at and administered by The Gamm Theatre. RISCA will be providing additional funds, as well as staff assistance.
