West Bay Community Theater will present the classic musical GODSPELL on Saturday, March 28th at St. Paul’s Parish Hall in Wickford, RI. For one night only, WBCT will present a full staging of the beloved Stephen Schwartz classic, GODSPELL at St. Paul’s Parish Hall, 76 Main St, North Kingstown, RI 02852. This production serves as both a rare non-summer offering from West Bay Community Theater as well as a fundraiser for WBCT and St. Paul’s Parish. Known chiefly for its annual mammoth outdoor summer musical experiences, WBCT pivots to present an intimate (and indoors) production of GODSPELL. Partnering with St. Paul’s, WBCT ties into the parish’s weeklong series of events leading up to Easter to present this timeless, yet rarely done musical theater classic. Proceeds will aid St. Paul’s as well as shore up budgeting for WBCT’s next blockbuster, MAMMA MIA! (August 15, 2026). Director Timothy Reid makes his return to Rhode Island theater with this production. “Thank you, West Bay Community Theater, for inviting me back to direct after a ten-year hiatus,” says Reid. “It combines two of my passions of theater and the Bible! ‘God save the people!’” Music Director Brittany Lyn says, “It will be privilege to bring GODSPELL to life with West Bay Community Theater. This show reminds us to be grateful for ‘all good gifts’—music, love, and the people who share them.” The cast features Jimmy Calitri as Jesus and David Sackal as Judas/John the Baptist. The ensemble includes Micaela Chille, Marybeth Earle, Sara McCormick, Jamie Poskitt, Tyler Reid, Tali Russell, Genevra Stewart, Mahria Trepes, and Maria Venturelli. Tickets for GODSPELL are currently on sale and are extremely limited. All seats are $35 and can be purchased at www.wbctheater.org/box-office. About the show: Book by John Michael Tebelak Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz Conceived and Originally Directed by John Michael Tebelak Based on The Gospel According to St. Matthew Originally Produced on the New York Stage by Edgar Lansbury / Stuart Duncan / Joseph Beruh GODSPELL is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Director/Choreographer: Timothy Reid Music Director: Brittany Lyn Production Design: Terry Shea/Zach Searle Synopsis: GODSPELL was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, "Day by Day," GODSPELL features a parade of beloved songs, including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side." A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, a book by a visionary playwright (John-Michael Tebelak) and a feature film, GODSPELL is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.
