Review: 9 TO 5 at Music Theatre of Wichita at Century II Concert Hall
Wichita: Paula Makar on June 16, 2024

What did our critic think of 9 TO 5 at Music Theatre Of Wichita At Century II Concert Hall?9 to 5 is one of my favorite shows - it’s entertaining, it’s full of comedic moments, and it has some great lessons in self love, trusting your instincts, and believing in yourself. It shows us not only how far we have come in terms of respecting women’s rights, but also shows us how much more needs to be done in terms of equal rights for not only women, but for all minority groups.

Review: LETTERS TO KAMALA/DANDELION PEACE at Voices Festival Productions
Washington, DC: Mary Lincer on June 16, 2024

Review: WAR OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI PART 2 & 3 at OrangeMite Studio
Central Pennsylvania: Sandra Harberger on June 16, 2024

Orangemite has adapted the two plays with provided narration which shorted the time to 2 1/2 hours to deliver York, PA the first live performance of these Shakespeare plays. Dr. William Wolfgang directed, narrated, and provided both piano and trumpet music (often simultaneously)!

Review: R.A.V.E. at Outside The March
Toronto: Ilana Lucas on June 16, 2024

Like its main character, R.A.V.E. is weighed down by some overly ambitious intersectional goals; however, as a party and as an emotional experience, it earns a R.A.V.E. review.A.V.E. at Outside The March?

Review: SNOW WHITE at CVRep
Palm Springs: Gilmore Rizzo on June 16, 2024

SNOW WHITE is a monumental success in epic proportions – presented by two talented actors. Perfect for children with their adults.

Review: THE LION KING at Ohio Theatre
Columbus: Paul Batterson on June 16, 2024

While at times THE LION KING seems like a note for note repetition of the movie, what pushes the musical into new territory is the costume design, a stellar group of actors, and of course, an empowering soundtrack.

Review: MRS. DOUBTFIRE at Pantages Theatre
Los Angeles: Harker Jones on June 16, 2024

The problem is not that it’s bad — it’s certainly serviceable — so much as it’s unmemorable. Something that should never be said about a character as dynamic as Mrs. Doubtfire.

Review: Robert Bannon's PRIDE PLAYLIST at 54 Below Is a Celebration!
Cabaret: Nathan Johnson on June 16, 2024

Robert is a party and always has a genuine smile on his face, as if, in his own impish way, he is inviting anyone with joy in their hearts to join him. I will say, there is one major flaw with every Robert Bannon show, at least the two I’ve seen: they aren’t long enough!

Review: GAVIN LEE STEPS OUT WITH FRED ASTAIRE Is Toe-Tapping Fun at 54 Below
Cabaret: Sharon Ellman on June 15, 2024

This reviewer was thrilled and overwhelmed by Gavin Lee's talent and showmanship at his Fred Astaire tribute show on June 14th!

Review: EURIDYCE at Town Players Of New Canaan
Connecticut: Sherry Shameer Cohen on June 15, 2024

You need to know the myth first, but you'll find the play compelling.

Review: THE NEWLYWED GAME Wins at B St. Theatre
Sacramento: Courtney Symes on June 15, 2024

I’m old enough to remember when “The Newlywed Game” was live on television…before reruns. It was fascinating to discover how well couples knew each other; so, when the B St. Theatre announced their production of The Newlywed Game, the winner of the 2023 New Comedies Festival, I knew it was going to be a must-see.

Review: THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Osceola Arts
Orlando: Joseph Harrison on June 15, 2024

It is rare to sit down in a theatre to see a play and literally laugh non-stop from before the curtain all the way to the final bows. Sure, there are hilarious comedies out there that garner many laughs in an evening but to create a raucous reaction from an audience with little time to take a breath until the next unbelievably funny moment – for almost every moment of the play - that is rare. So, when I tell you this is exactly the experience you are likely to have sitting in the audience at Osceola Arts’ stellar production of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, trust me, you should run, not walk, to get your tickets to what is likely to be the funniest and most entertaining Central Florida productions of the year. Fair warning – you should be prepared for your face and your sides to hurt by the end of the evening – and not just metaphorically – it is truly that fun.

Review: SPRING AWAKENING at The 5th Avenue Theatre
Seattle: Jay Irwin on June 15, 2024

Dear Readers, I should start by saying that “Spring Awakening”, the musical from Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, has never been one of my favorites. But that first national tour and especially the 2012 local production from Balagan Theatre gave me a better appreciation for the show for what it is. However, the current production from the 5th Avenue Theatre did not.

Review: CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY at Fulton Theatre
Central Pennsylvania: Rich Mehrenberg on June 15, 2024

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a scrumdiddlyumptious summer treat on the Fulton stage. The production retains everything you love about the original movie (Pure Imagination, eye-popping sets, bratty kids, etc.) and eliminates or updates the parts that weren’t so great (mediocre special effects and the always fast-forwardable Cheer Up, Charlie).

Review: MAD Theatre of Tampa Presents URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL at the Shimberg Playhouse
Tampa/St. Petersburg: Peter Nason on June 15, 2024

Dystopia and pee; there's nothing like URINETOWN!

Review: KINKY BOOTS at Gettysburg Community Theatre
Central Pennsylvania: Andrea Stephenson on June 15, 2024

Gettysburg Community Theatre’s production of Kinky Boots will have audiences tapping their toes, cheering for the underdog, and wishing for their own pair of red stiletto boots.

Review: GIFFORDS CIRCUS: AVALON, Chiswick House and Gardens
UK / West End: Kat Mokrynski on June 15, 2024

Written and Directed by Cal McCrystal, Avalon is the 2024 show for Giffords Circus, a village-green travelling circus that follows the belief of ther founder, Nell Giffords, that “Art is Love.” The tents and caravans feel as though they have been pulled from a classic movie.
