CoHo Productions began with a world premiere play written by a then-local playwright, Gary Cole, and directed by Robert Holden. Our first play was nominated for a Drammy award. Since then, CoHo Productions has used its unique co-production model to champion 6 additional world premieres, several Portland or northwest premieres, and sustained the highest quality of performance on stage and behind the scenes in earning 16 Drammy awards for its co-productions. Our 2010-2011 season continues that tradition of blending high quality production, new works and top local talent.

Beginning August 13, Artists Repertory Theatre and Sydney Theatre Company will bring a world-class production of EuGene O'Neill's gut-wrenching autobiographical play Long Day's Journey Into Night to Portland. So close to his own life, Long Day's Journey Into Night is a story O'Neill did not want shared until 25 years after his death.

Mad Horse Theatre's Dark Night Series presents the hilarious one-act comedy, Heartbreak Help, by Justin Tanner. The play opens on June 7 and runs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings through June 16, at the Studio Theater at Portland Stage Company, 25A Forest Avenue, Portland. Admission is by donation only, with a suggested donation of $10.

The Columbia Gorge School of Theatre (www.TheatreCamp.com) is entering its 14th year of providing professional actor training for young people from across the country and from around the world. CGST students study Acting, Singing, Dancing, Movement, Voice, TV/Film Acting and the Biz with theatre professionals from all over. This year, our staff is coming in from Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, Cleveland, Detroit and several from New York City. Our alumni have gone on to work in feature films, television series, commercials, and Broadway tours. They have also gotten into some of the best BFA theatre programs in the nation. This year, CGST is located at Reed College in Portland, with its excellent facilities, dorms, grounds and food. CGST is dedicated to fostering an emotionally safe experience. Following a sold-out reading as part of the Fertile Ground Festival, the Nomadic Theatre Company will host the retelling of Alice and Wonderland utilizing masks, stilts, and the human body, with puppets courtesy of Michael Curry. Company co-founder Michael O'Neill directs this original, character-based show using physical comedy, acrobatics, and stilts.

This summer, Willamette Shakespeare will be sharing the stage with Newberg-based Celtic band Roughly Hewn in its August production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. For those who can't wait until that production to hear them, there are two upcoming opportunities to catch them. In addition to playing at the Willamette Shakespeare Preview Party and Fundraiser on June 3rd at Stoller Vineyard, the band will be playing on Friday May 21st at The Coffee Cottage at 808 E Hancock in Newberg from 8 - 9:30 PM. Portland Center Stage is holding its first summer cabaret series, Gavin & Susannah: An Intimate Evening of Musical Theater, featuring Gavin Gregory and Susannah Mars with musical director Rick Lewis. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from July 7-23, 2010. All tickets will be $25.00 each, plus applicable handling fees.
