Stray Cat proudly opens season 23 with a production of Tracy Letts’ explosive Tony-nominated dark Broadway comedy taking a look behind the scenes of our small, local political machine - THE MINUTES.
The show features the return to the Stray Cat stage of founding Artistic Director Ron May as Mayor Superba.
THE MINUTES by Tracy Letts directed by Louis Farber Tempe Center for the Arts Studio Theatre September 27 - October 12, 2024
Sometimes the smallest towns hold the biggest secrets… From the celebrated author of August: Osage County comes this intense, Tony-nominated, scathing comedy about small-town politics and real-world power that exposes the ugliness behind some of our most closely-held American narratives while asking each of us just how far we would go to keep from becoming history’s “losers.” Also…head kitty Ron May will return to the Stray Cat stage as part of the cast!
“…one of the most thrilling new plays on Broadway this season even if recent real-life events hadn’t made it seem as uncanny as it is funny and, ultimately, disarming.” - Deadline
Please be aware the show contains adult language and adult situations.
As presented by Stray Cat Theatre as its 23rd season opener, THE MINUTES, a blistering satire of small-town city council meetings, begins as one thing and concludes as something completely different. And no matter what clues or giveaways you think you might have picked up on throughout the play, you won't be prepared for the emotional wallop that will eventually come. And you may not fully recover from its uncomfortable implications, either.
