Saturday Night Live returned last night with another iconic political Cold Open, this time taking on the final presidential debate.

The cast and crew of “Saturday Night Live” returned this month to kick off the 46th season of the weekly sketch comedy program, with Lorne Michaels at the helm. In this week’s Sunday Sitdown, Michaels, the show’s creator and executive producer, talks with Willie Geist in Studio 8H about keeping the staff safe during the coronavirus pandemic and how they wade through a week of news that could upend their material at the last minute.

This weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live included one of their ever-iconic political cold open sketches, once again.

Last night's Cold Open tackled the vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris.  In the sketch, Susan Page (Kate McKinnon) moderates a debate between Senator Harris (Maya Rudolph) and Vice President Pence (Beck Bennett), which features the fly that landed on Pence's head during the real debate.

Last night, the show did a spoof of The Drew Barrymore Show, and referenced the controversy surrounding The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Following last night's Weekend Update, the camera flashed to a shot of the audience, where McKinnon was sitting in her Ginsburg costume, hand over her heart, and looking up. Then a card appeared, featuring elements of McKinnon’s costume, including her lace collar and glasses, and the words, “Rest in Power.”
