The countdown to the Tony Awards continues! On June 12, the brightest stars of the 2021-22 season will shine even brighter as they gather at the iconic Radio City Music Hall to celebrate Broadway's biggest night. Leading up to the 75th Annual Tony Awards, BroadwayWorld is getting up close and personal with the nominees. Today we're studying up on Uzo Aduba!

Today, actors and activists with roles in some of Broadway's biggest hits launched a video in which they read the devastating words of people in solitary confinement in New York's prisons. While Broadway is shuttered and as people are struggling with home confinement, New Yorkers are getting just a glimpse of the horrors of solitary confinement.

This powerful collection of songs examines life, love, and the choices ordinary people make when faced with extraordinary moments. From the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to the ledge of a Fifth Avenue high-rise, each character faces a new world which follows the unique challenge they encounter.

Second Stage Theatre will soon present the world premiere production of Greg Pierce's play, Cardinal, directed by Kate Whoriskey. Cardinal will begin previews Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Tony Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street) and will officially open on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

This week Theater Talk focuses on on 'Sweat,' Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning/TONY-nominated play about the lives of factory workers in Reading, Pennsylvania as their lives are devastated by dehumanizing corporate decisions, following the enactment of NAFTA. Guests include playwright Nottage, the play's director Kate Whoriskey and two members of its company, TONY-nominated actors Johanna Day and Michelle Wilson.

Following its acclaimed run off-Broadway at the Public Theater, Sweat has at last arrived at Studio 54, marking the Broadway debut of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage. After the curtain went down last night, the ensemble company, joined by Nottage and director Kate Whoriskey,  gathered at Brasserie 8 ½ to celebrate the play's explosive arrival on Broadway. Following a sold out, critically acclaimed engagement at New York's Public Theater, Sweat, the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, directed by Kate Whoriskey will transfer to Broadway's Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). Broadway performances of Sweat will begin March 4 for a March 26, 2017 opening.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Tales from Red Vienna, the new play by David Grimm, directed by Kate Whoriskey, opens tonight, March 18 at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).
