Mayor-Elect Eric Adams attended last night’s performance of Thoughts of a Colored Man, his first Broadway play in his new position. After the show, which was attended by Mary J. Blige, Broadway’s own Sheryl Lee Ralph and her husband PA. State Senator Vincent Hughes and Tasha Smith, Mr. Adams praised Keenan Scott II’s play as “historic”.

Just before its opening night on Broadway, Good Morning America went behind the scenes of Thoughts of a Colored Man, the first Broadway play in history to be written and directed by Black men, and to include a cast of all Black men. Watch the interview with the play's cast and creatives now!

Today we flashback to 2013, when Motown first performed on the Bryant Park stage. Motown opened on April 14, 2013 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it played for 738 performances, and returned to Broadway in 2016. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright and choreographed by Patricia Wilcox and Warren Adams, it starred Brandon Victor Dixon, Valisia Lekae, Bryan Terrell Clark, Charl Brown, and more.
