What did our critic think of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre?

MURDER FOR TWO at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is a new, fun, and hilarious musical murder mystery. When novelist Arthur Whitney is murdered at his own birthday party, an investigation ensues to figure out whodunnit. 

You can’t go wrong with dinner and a show, and Lancaster’s Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre—now celebrating its 39th season—delivers a lively, family-friendly take on The Wizard of Oz, the beloved classic that continues to enchant audiences of all ages.

LEGALLY BLONDE is a musical that cannot be missed. It follows Elle Woods and her journey as she follows her ex to Harvard, then ends up learning more about herself and her ambitions through that journey.

Good theater should give the audience more to think about at its conclusion beyond “where did I park my car?” Fiddler on the Roof is just that show.

Come see Waitress for an entire night of stick-to-your-ribs food and entertainment. The production will be playing at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre through April 5th.

Good actors spend a lot of time creating backstory and motivation for the character they are playing. Imagine how much work goes into doing this preparation to take on more than a half dozen roles. That is the task faced by Robbie Harrison in Murder for Two, a musical comedy/mystery now being offered by Southwest Florida Theatre Company in conjunction with Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. This is the first collaboration between the two.

The show is 90 minutes with no intermission.  Director, Victor Legarreta understands the farcical elements and keeps the action coming. However, funny, and fast are not synonymous.  The coherency of the plot is sometimes sacrificed by the manic pace of the show. This is a flaw of the script, not this production.

As the holiday season swings into full gear, the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre has opened its doors to one of the most beloved Christmas musicals of all time: Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. This spectacular production, directed by Amy Marie McCleary, serves up a delightful mix of holiday cheer, dazzling performances, and the timeless songs of Irving Berlin. It’s a festive treat that is sure to put everyone in the Christmas spirit.

What did our critic think of THE MOUSETRAP at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre?

Having seen Victor Legarreta act in a number of shows at Broadway Palm, I was not surprised at anything I saw in The Mousetrap which he directed. Everything and everybody are bigger than life.

The Full Monty, adapted from the 1997 British film, features a score by David Yazbek and book by Terrence McNally. The show introduces the audience to six unemployed steelworkers who come up with a seemingly crazy way to raise some money—performing a Chippendales-style act. The Full Monty, which first opened on Broadway in 2000, follows these characters and their families as they work to overcome both external and internal struggles. Actor Craig Smith takes the stage as Jerry in The Full Monty at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre.

The Full Monty is a lot of fun, and a great palate cleanser after the more solemn, Ragtime.  It is playing now through June 22.

Agatha Christie has sold more books than anyone other than the Bible and Shakespeare.  This story easily explains why.  Go see it, learn the secrets of The Mousetrap, and then, most importantly, keep them to yourself!
