As BroadwayWorld reported in July, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will end its Broadway run today, October 27th, 2019, after having played 60 preview and 2,418 regular performances, surpassing the original production of Annie and the landmark 1998 revival of Cabaret to become the 27th longest-running musical (and the 2nd longest running 'bio-musical') in Broadway history.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will end its Broadway run this fall. BEAUTIFUL began performances at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Nov. 21, 2013, and officially opened on Jan. 12, 2014. So, by the time the beloved musical ends its run, it will have run on Broadway for nearly six years.

Let me admit when I saw MATILDA on Broadway in 2013 (winner of 5 Tony Awards), I did not enjoy it. I just could not understand the character of the buffoon Miss Trunchbell, the Olympian hammer throwing athletic principal of Matilda's school. He was the villain of all villains.

Joining the all-star line-up for the 39th annual edition of PBS' A CAPITOL FOURTH, the country's longest-running live national July 4 TV tradition, are Broadway star and two-time Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (BANDSTAND) plus Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and R&B legendsThe O'Jays. Osnes, whose distinguished Broadway career includes starring roles in CINDERELLA, BONNIE & CLYDE and ANYTHING GOES, will perform a medley of patriotic songs accompanied by the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." The O'Jays, the legendary trio behind such classics as "I Love Music" and "Use Ta Be My Girl," will perform their Grammy Hall of Fame inducted Billboard Hot 100 # 1 hit song "Love Train." This April, the O'Jays debuted "The Last Word," their first studio album in 15 years, and what the band has announced will be their final album.
