On September 6th,  Art at a Time Like This will present its fall program, Excelsior,  short films and videos by Asian and Asian diaspora artists of diverse backgrounds,  curated by Job Piston.

​​​​​​​Rehearsals started this week for the Alliance Theatre's season opener, EVERYBODY, by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.  EVERYBODY, which is co-directed by Susan V. Booth and Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, marks the final production of Booth's 21-year tenure as the Alliance Theatre's Jennings Hertz Artistic Director.

Directed by Millicent Hailes (an artist/filmmaker who’s also worked with Billie Eilish, Tinashe, and Pussy Riot), the video for “Becky’s So Hot” co-stars Bella Thorne as the recipient of FLETCHER’s fascination. Partly inspired by the futurism of Blade Runner 2049, “Becky’s So Hot” blurs the edges of fantasy and reality to glorious effect. 

After 21 years as the Alliance Theatre’s Jennings Hertz Artistic Director, Susan V. Booth will leave her role at the Alliance to join Chicago’s Goodman Theatre as Artistic Director.  Booth will finish her tenure by co-directing the regional premiere of the acclaimed play, Everybody, which begins previews September 2.

It is now revealed that Jo Freer, Ewan Donald, Irene Macdougall, Tinashe Warikandwa and Suzanne Magowan will form the ensemble portraying the legendary characters written by Tony Roper in 1987: Dolly, Andy, Mrs Culfeathers, Doreen and Magrit respectively.

Their latest original production boasts a flowing vocal from rapper / songwriter Duckwrth, and directly follows up the pair’s recent hit single “WATER.” featuring Los-Angeles based talent Bryce Vine, released at the end of this April. The feelgood sonic offering is out July 1st to listen to across all streaming platforms via Helix Records.

Grammy-winning artist Flume brought out Damon Albarn during his set at Coachella this past weekend and surprise released their collaborative track, “Palaces,” just after the set. Another new track, “ESCAPE” with Kučka—who returns following her standout turn on Skin—and Quiet Bison, is also out now. Both songs are taken from Flume’s new LP, Palaces.
