The National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Jennifer Fawcett's award winning Apples in Winter opens this weekend at Centenary Stage Company. The limited performances run November 8 through November 18 in the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Avenue Hackettstown, NJ. Directed by Mikaela Kafka, the production stars Colleen Smith Wallnau.

Amas Musical Theatre in celebration of its 50th season, will present With Love, Marilyn, a one-woman musical tribute to Marilyn Monroe, one of the most iconic romantic ingenues written by and starring Erin Sullivan.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) presents the world premiere of BITTER GREENS, written by Clea DeCrane and directed by Kevin Kittle. Produced by Station 26 Productions, BITTER GREENS begins performances on Friday, December 7 for a limited engagement through Sunday, December 23. Press Opening is Friday, December 14 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Saturday at 7:30 PM; and Sunday at 2:30 PM. Please note: there is an added performance on Saturday, December 8 at 2:30 PM. The Office of the City Council will honor Sanford Meisner and The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre will be recognized with a Proclamation in honor of their 90th Anniversary. The Proclamation will be presented by NYC Council Member Ben Kallos at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre (340 East 54th Street) on Thursday, October 18th at 2 pm.

Cohen (Children's Letters to God, The Opposite of Sex) and book & lyrics by Dan Elish (13: The Musical) based on his novel, Nine Wives.  Directed by Joe Barros (Bastard Jones), the production stars Max Crumm (Grease, Disaster!) in the title role, with Allie Trimm (13: The Musical and Bye Bye Birdie on Broadway) and Leslie Hiatt. Now in previews, opening is slated for Today, October 4.

The Neighborhood Playhouse at 340 East 54th Street (near 1st Avenue) in New York City will be holding a memorial to honor Tony award winning director Vivian Matalon on Monday, October 8 at 7PM. 'Sleep F$@cking: Revision' by Margot Mejia is an exploration of the physical experience of writing and revising a work that delves into a troubled writer's mind. Wine-addled and in a mire of insomnia, a character named John begins to lose sight of what is real and what is the novel. The world of the play and the novel overlap and become one, as John physically enters his book and the stage is overtaken by both realities, making both him and the audience question their interpretation of events. Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will present the play's world premiere August 26 to September 4.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Mark Baker, a Broadway veteran and Tony nominee, passed away yesterday, August 13. He was 71 years old.
