Working Theater has announced programming details for its fall 2021 season, marking a return to in-person events, new partnerships, and a strengthening of relationships in all five boroughs.

Fourteen prominent American writer/directors are part of a worldwide roster of over 100 global theater artists lending their voices July 20, 2021 to 'HowlRound for India,' a 24-hour online marathon of live readings and talks honoring the Indian theater community for its efforts in facing Covid-19. 

Drama Desk and AUDELCO award-winning off-Broadway company Working Theater has named Laura Carbonell Monarque to serve as Producing Artistic Director in advance of the company's 37th season. Monarque will succeed co-Artistic Directors Tamilla Woodard, recently named Chair of Acting at Yale School of Drama, and Mark Plesent, who led the Company for 27 years until his passing in February.

Tamilla Woodard has been appointed Chair of the Acting Department at Yale School of Drama and Resident Director at Yale Repertory Theatre. She will be working part-time this spring to prepare for the upcoming academic year; her five-year term begins officially on July 1, 2021. 

Working Theater will present Missing Them- a living public memorial to our neighbors lost to COVID-19. Missing Them is a live theater event that builds on a collaborative journalism project to name every New Yorker lost to COVID-19 and tell a story about them.

The Drama League has just announced the 2021 Nominees and Special Recognition Honorees for The 87th Annual Drama League Awards. Working Theater has announced the first recipients of the Mark Plesent Commission Fund, established to honor the legacy and vision of the Company's artistic leader of 27 years. The Fund, conceived with Mark Plesent before his passing in February 2021, will support commission and development of new plays by working people.
