Playwright Suzie Miller was announced as the winner of the 2018 Griffin Award for her play On the Face of It at the SBW Stables Theatre today. Accepting the award from Griffin's Artistic Director Lee Lewis and Jane Curry of Copyright Agency, Miller said: "It's such a joy just to be nominated, especially with the plays I was nominated alongside. I'd been nominated once before but to win is astonishing, and it shows that the whole journey is worth it. The thing for playwrights in this country is really just keeping at it. To all the other playwrights and playwrights to-be out there like I once was: if you're passionate about it, keep doing it."

Toronto's acclaimed Theatre Gargantua (TG) opened the world premiere of The Sacrifice Zone on November 14, marking the Canadian debut of Australian playwright Suzie Miller of The Uncertainty Principle and the culmination of the company's tenth cycle of work. The Sacrifice Zone runs to November 30, 2013 at the Factory Studio Theatre.

Representing the culmination of the company's tenth cycle of work, The Sacrifice Zone is directed by Jacquie Thomas, Artistic Director of Theatre Gargantua, and is a dynamic investigation into the harrowing pursuit of justice after a fatal explosion in an industry town dedicated to resource extraction. The Sacrifice Zone opens November 14 and runs to November 30 (previews tonight, November 13) at the Factory Studio Theatre.
