JERSEY BOYS Original Broadway Cast: Where Are They Now?
The original cast of Jersey Boys featured John Lloyd Young, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer, Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Tituss Burgess and more.
Jersey Boys, featuring music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, first premiered on Broadway in 2005, following its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in 2004.
Telling the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the original Broadway production, which opened on November 6, 2005, starred John Lloyd Young, Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer and more. Jersey Boys earned eight Tony nominations and four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Young, Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Hoff, and Best Lighting Design for Howell Binkley. It went on to run for over 11 years on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre and played for 4,642 performances.
Since its debut, the musical has launched two North American national tours and two tours across the UK and Ireland. It has also been staged around the world, with productions in London’s West End, Amstetten, Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto, Melbourne and other Australian cities, Singapore, South Africa, the Netherlands, Japan, Dubai, and China. In 2014, the musical was adapted into a feature film, once again starring Young and directed by Clint Eastwood.
Now, more than 20 years after the musical first arrived on Broadway, Jersey Boys is returning to the road with a 20th Anniversary North American Tour, launching in September 2026. BroadwayWorld is looking back at what the original Broadway cast has been up to since the show first opened on Broadway!
John Lloyd Young
John Lloyd Young originated the role of Frankie Valli in the original Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005. His performance earned him the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Theatre World Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, making him the only American actor to receive all four honors for a Broadway debut performance. He also shared a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album with the original cast.
Young reprised the role of Frankie Valli in the West End production of Jersey Boys before being hand-picked by director Clint Eastwood to reprise the role in the 2014 film adaptation. He remains one of the few actors to recreate a Tony Award-winning performance on screen.
In addition to his stage career, Young has built a successful career as a concert artist, performing at venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, The Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, Café Carlyle, Feinstein's, and the White House. He has also appeared on The Today Show, Live with Kelly and Michael, Entertainment Tonight, and NPR's All Things Considered.
In 2013, President Barack Obama appointed Young to the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, where he was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. As a member of the Committee, he represented the United States on its first cultural mission to Cuba in 2016 before resigning alongside the Committee's remaining members in 2017. Most recently, Young has continued to tour nationally with his solo concert performances, with engagements at Feinstein's at the Nikko, 54 Below, The Ingersoll, and theaters across the country through 2027.
Daniel Reichard
Daniel Reichard originated the role of Bob Gaudio in the original Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005. His performance earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination, and he is featured on the show's Grammy Award-winning original cast recording.
Following Jersey Boys, Reichard starred as Candide in Candide at New York City Opera and portrayed artist Keith Haring in Radiant Baby at The Public Theater. He has also appeared at regional theaters including Goodspeed Opera House, The Muny, North Shore Music Theatre, and Weston Playhouse.
In addition to his stage career, Reichard appeared in the film adaptation of Forever Plaid. He also co-founded the vocal group The Midtown Men with fellow original Jersey Boys cast members. The group has performed more than 1,000 concerts worldwide, recorded two albums, and starred in two PBS television specials.
As a solo concert artist, Reichard has performed with more than 35 major symphony orchestras, including the Boston Pops, National Symphony Orchestra, and the Philly Pops. He has also headlined sold-out engagements at Lincoln Center, 54 Below, Birdland Jazz Club, Joe's Pub, and Ars Nova.
J. Robert Spencer
J. Robert Spencer originated the role of Nick Massi in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005, remaining with the show through September 2008.
Following Jersey Boys, Spencer originated the role of Dan Goodman on Broadway in Next to Normal in 2009, after appearing in the musical at Arena Stage. His Broadway performance earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He later played the Preacher in the 2019 Goodspeed Musicals production of Because of Winn-Dixie.
Spencer's screen credits include Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, All My Children, Heterosexuals and Lost on Purpose. He has also toured extensively as a member of The Midtown Men alongside fellow original Jersey Boys cast members Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard and Michael Longoria.
Christian Hoff
Christian Hoff originated the role of Tommy DeVito in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 and remained with the show through 2008. His performance earned him the 2006 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
Following his success in Jersey Boys, Hoff appeared in several other productions, including the Off-Broadway play The Diva Is Dismissed and the Broadway musicals Pal Joey and 42nd Street. He also made guest appearances on television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Ugly Betty.
In addition to his work on stage and screen, Hoff is also a talented singer and songwriter. He has released several albums, including his debut album, "Hollywood Stories," which features original songs and covers of classic Hollywood tunes.
Hoff continues to work in the entertainment industry, both on stage and screen. He most recently appeared in the film The Choir Director and in the Off-Broadway production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. He is also a member of the group The Midtown Men.
Michael Longoria
Michael Longoria originated the role of Joey in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 while understudying Frankie Valli. He later became an alternate for Frankie Valli before taking over the role full-time in 2007.
He went on to numerous performances on television, including “Broadway Under The Stars: A Tribute To Harold Prince”, The US Open and the “America’s Got Talent”, season nine finale with Susan Boyle and Shakira. His journey recently led him back to Atlantic City with feature performance in “That’s Life! with Joe Piscopo” at Caesar’s.
Other theatrical credits include Peter Pan in “Peter Pan & Wendy” at the Prince Music Theater, for which he earned a Barrymore Award nomination for Best Actor in a musical; Chino in “West Side Story” at the Walnut Street Theatre; Mark in “A Chorus Line” at Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center; and Chuck in “Avenue X” at the Abe Burrows Theater. In Europe, he performed the role of Paul in the German Tour of “A Chorus Line”, and Baby John in “West Side Story” at the famed Teatro alla Scala-Milan.
As a singer-songwriter, Longoria has shared his one of a kind talent at such venues as New York City’s CB’s Gallery, Cutting Room, Joe’s Pub, The Knitting Factory, and Caroline’s on Broadway.
Longoria also reunited with Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard and J. Robert Spencer as a member of The Midtown Men. As a solo performer, he has appeared at New York venues including Joe's Pub and The Cutting Room and has released several recordings.
Tituss Burgess
Tituss Burgess originated the role of Hal Miller in Jersey Boys on Broadway.
Burgess is best known for his Emmy-nominated performance as Titus Andromedon on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the role, which he played throughout the series' four-season run and revisited in the interactive special Kimmy vs. the Reverend. His recent television credits include Schmigadoon!, Central Park and The Wonder Years.
Following Jersey Boys, Burgess originated the role of Sebastian in The Little Mermaid on Broadway in 2008. He later appeared as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the 2009 revival of Guys and Dolls. More recently, he returned to Broadway as Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical in 2023 and starred as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! in 2025.
His additional screen credits include 30 Rock, Annie Live!, Respect, Dolemite Is My Name, Set It Up and The Good Fight. Burgess has also worked extensively as a voice actor, with credits including The Angry Birds Movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village, The Addams Family, Spellbound and Disney's Snow White. He has also hosted the television series Dishmantled, Sing On! and Last Bite Hotel.
Peter Gregus
Peter Gregus originated the role of Bob Crewe in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 and remained with the production throughout its Broadway run. He also served as dance captain and fight captain for the show.
Following Jersey Boys, Gregus appeared in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on Broadway in 2006, and joined the national tour of A Bronx Tale: The Musical as a swing in 2018. His other stage work has included productions at La Jolla Playhouse, New York City Center, Provincetown Theater and New Bedford Festival Theatre.
His screen credits include Show Me a Hero, Independent Lens, The Boys Who Brunch, Turtle Hill, Brooklyn and Diamond Soles. In 2021, he portrayed fashion designer Bill Blass in the Netflix miniseries Halston.
Mark Lotito
Mark Lotito originated the role of Gyp DeCarlo in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005.
Following Jersey Boys, Lotito appeared in the 2019 Off-Broadway production of Smart Blonde at 59E59 Theaters. He returned to Broadway as Spats in the original production of Some Like It Hot in 2022 and appeared Off-Broadway in Truman vs. Israel in 2025.
His screen credits include Law & Order, The Deuce, High Maintenance, The Loudest Voice, Instinct, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, For Life and Pose. He also appeared in the 2019 film Joker and the Apple TV+ series City on Fire.
Donnie Kehr
Donnie Kehr originated the role of Norm Waxman in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 and appeared in the premiere at La Jolla Playhouse. He also understudied Tommy DeVito and Gyp DeCarlo and later covered Bob Crewe.
Following Jersey Boys, Kehr joined the original Broadway company of Billy Elliot: The Musical in 2008 as a member of the ensemble and understudy for Dad. He later reprised his role as Norm Waxman in Clint Eastwood's 2014 film adaptation of Jersey Boys.
His television credits include House of Cards, Gotham, Quantico, Z: The Beginning of Everything, Tales of the City and Inventing Anna.
He is the founder and executive producer of Rockers on Broadway- a concert that unites Broadway performers and Rock ‘n’ Roll icons to support charitable causes.
Jennifer Naimo
Jennifer Naimo originated the role of Mary Delgado in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 after appearing in the musical's 2004 premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. She remained with the Broadway production through 2008.
Following Jersey Boys, Naimo appeared on television in Nip/Tuck, The Closer and Speechless, as well as the television movie Annie Claus Is Coming to Town. Her more recent screen work includes True Love's Kiss, How (Not) to Date Your Neighbor and Maggie's Market.
Sara Schmidt
Sara Schmidt originated the role of Francine in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005, also appearing in the ensemble.
Prior to Jersey Boys, Schmidt appeared Off-Broadway in Wish You Were Here and Imperfect Chemistry. She later made her Broadway debut as a swing in Dance of the Vampires in 2002, understudying Sarah, Nadja and Zsa-Zsa. In 2004, she joined the Broadway production of Brooklyn as a vocalist and understudied the roles of Brooklyn and Faith.
Her earlier stage work also included the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof, in which she appeared as Rivka and later played Chava.
Erica Piccininni
Erica Piccininni originated the role of Lorraine in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005. She later reprised the role in Clint Eastwood's 2014 film adaptation of the musical.
Following Jersey Boys, Piccininni appeared as Luisa in the Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks. She subsequently built a career in television and film, with credits including Medium, Lie to Me, Numb3rs, The Closer, NCIS, The Good Wife and The Mentalist.
Her later screen credits include Boychoir, Hart of Dixie, Mad Men, Station 19, Code Black, Lethal Weapon, The Magicians, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Vegas and The Rookie. She appeared on Matlock in 2025 and stars as Miranda in the 2026 independent film TƎMPEST.
Steve Gouveia
Steve Gouveia originated the role of Hank Majewski in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys in 2005 and understudied the roles of Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi. He went on to play Massi in the Jersey Boys National Tour and Chicago production. He has also starred in October Sky at The Old Globe in San Diego.
