RSL Ondaatje Prize 2022 Longlist Announced

The Royal Society of Literature (RSL), the voice for the value of literature in the UK, has today unveiled the longlist for the 2022 RSL Ondaatje Prize. An annual prize of £10,000, the RSL Ondaatje Prize is awarded by the RSL to an outstanding work of fiction, non-fiction or poetry that best evokes the spirit of a place. 

40th Annual Dora Awards Nominations Announced: Soulpepper Takes Home 25 Nominations, DEAR EVAN HANSEN Taps 9 Noms

At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

BWW Review: NEXT TO NORMAL Needs to Find its Rhythm

A high standard of musical drama is expected from the Musical Stage Company that sadly wasn't present at opening night of NEXT TO NORMAL. The three-time Tony Award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey is Musical Stage's latest undertaking in its line of family drama shows. After multiple Dora Award wins last year for Fun Home and Life After, expectations were high for NEXT TO NORMAL - however, the show needs some work before it can truly harness the potential of its performers.

PROM QUEEN: THE MUSICAL Extended at Segal Centre

Due to popular demand, the Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that three performances have been added to the world premiere production of Prom Queen: The Musical. Produced by Mary Young Leckie and the Segal Centre, Prom Queen: The Musical tells the inspiring, true story of Marc Hall, the Ontario teenager who took his Catholic School Board to court when they refused to let him attend prom with his boyfriend. This new, award-winning Canadian musical directed by Marcia Kash, written by Kent Staines, with lyrics by Akiva Romer-Segal and music by Colleen Dauncey will now run on the Segal Stage until November 23, 2016.
