Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a jukebox musical with book by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, using well-known pop songs as its score. Adapted from Elliott's 1994 movie , the musical tells the story of two drag queens and a trans woman, who contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a town in the remote Australian desert.

In a new report from Deadline, Stephan Elliott, director of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, has confirmed that a sequel to the 1994 film is underway with actors Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce And Hugo Weaving reprising their roles. “The original cast is on board, I’ve got a script that everybody likes, we’re still working out deals. … It’s happening,” Elliott said.
Priscilla the Party is based on The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a movie from the 90s that was adapted into a musical and has since travelled the world. But, instead of a classic musical, guests are invited into the Cockatoo Club, standing in front of the stage that is able to be taken apart and moved around the floor.

Shows that tackle a deep subject or address a serious social topic sit next to light and fun stories of queens and knights in shining armor, and all make great musicals. And some shows, like PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT tackle all of the above, but do so wrapped in a glittery, colorful wrapping. So, I was particularly excited to make it out to Titusville to see Titusville Playhouse’s PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT (now playing through March 26th) – and found there a rollicking, good time that also strikes a particular nerve at this moment in history.
