You must be living under a rock if you haven't heard of or seen Come From Away, the critically acclaimed musical with book, music, and lyrics written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein that has captured the hearts of audiences all over the world. Based on a true story with characters written after real people, Come From Away tells the tale of 7000 people stranded in Gander, Newfoundland after the September 11 tragedy and the small town that opened their hearts and homes and welcomed them in.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Irene Sankoff, co-writer of Come From Away with her husband David Hein, will star in a replica production of the musical in Ottawa this summer when the Canadian production reopens there ahead of its return to Toronto. 

The cast has been announced for the new Canadian production of the multi-award-winning global sensation Come From Away.

'The Devil's Advocate' was written in collaboration with producer/guitarist Justin Abedin, whom Lisa met backstage whilst working on Come From Away in Toronto. He also played a significant role in her debut EP, The Space Between, released in 2022, helping to infuse beauty into her work and shape her lyrics and melodies.

Go inside Come From Away: The Concert Steele Community Centre in Gander and September 19-21 at the Mary Brown's Centre in St. John's, which brought home the musical about the small Canadian town that temporarily doubled in population in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and tells the real-life stories of the people from there, and those who came from away. 

A dynamic group of performers from several ‘Come From Away’ companies around the world will assemble for this special presentation. The concerts will welcome home Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, Petrina Bromley (from the original Broadway cast) and Clint Butler and Kate Etienne (from the Toronto cast).

The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced the national tour of COME FROM AWAY, a Broadway musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, will return to Seattle for a limited engagement from July 20 to August 7, 2022.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced that the national tour of COME FROM AWAY, a Broadway musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, is returning to Costa Mesa at Segerstrom Hall for a limited one week engagement from June 21-26.

Angelwalk Theatre will bring some musical theatre fun to the fall lineup with its brand-new online series Backstage Tea, airing every Tuesday at 5:30 pm (EST) starting October 20th and available until 11:59 pm (EST) the following Monday. The series will run for a total of 9 episodes, with the final episode airing on December 15th.
