Signature Theatre closes out its 2011/12 season sporting funky legwarmers and wielding neon glow sticks with the Washington premiere of the musical comedy hit Xanadu. Beginning performances tonight, May 6th, Xanadu will be transforming Signature's MAX Theatre into one big disco-ball heaven - complete with satin shorts and roller skates! Nominated for four Tony Awards® (including "Best Musical"), the musical features a Book by Douglas Carter Beane, with Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Xanadu will play at Signature from tonight, May 6, 2012 through July 1, 2012. Tickets are now on sale.
THE ASTORIA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (APAC) reunites the creative team behind their The Human Comedy and Children of Eden with THE SECRET GARDEN, musical staging by Christine O'Grady, musical directed by Jeffrey Campos and directed by APAC Artistic Director Tom Wojtunik.
The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Marin Mazzie will be taking the weekend off from CARRIE duty to fulfill previously scheduled concert engagement in California. Stepping in for Mazzie in the role of Margaret White for performances on March 16 - March 18 will be Anne Tolpegin, best known for her roles in Les Miserables and A Tale of Two Cities. Mazzie will return to the production as scheduled on Tuesday, March 20.

Created by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione with music and lyrics by Kuo, the original musical tells the story of a Japanese American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. Directed by Stafford Arima (Carrie, Altar Boyz, West End premiere of Ragtime), the production features musical direction and arrangements by Lynne Shankel (Cry-Baby, Company) and choreography by Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, South Pacific). Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), television and film icon George Takei ('Star Trek,' 'Heroes') and Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent) will star.

This year is shaping up to be the year of the Canucks on Broadway - with more Canadian representation on the Great White Way than ever before. One of those Canadians is Tony LePage, currently starring in Rock of Ages where he understudies all eight of the male roles. Tony started with the Toronto production of the show before moving to NYC, which he has called home for the last year. He took a few minutes to talk with BWW about what the journey has been like for him, and about why he hopes to continue to call NYC home.

This brand new and revised production, now playing at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), has already extended its run, and will now play performances through April 22, 2012.
