The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) announced that Hana Sharif is stepping down as its Augustin Family Artistic Director after a five-year tenure leading the top regional theatre and advancing its legacy of artistic excellence to become Artistic Director of Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Fat Ham by James Ijames, directed by Saheem Ali, opened on Broadway last night, April 12. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos from the opening night purple carpet here!

Last night, at the tenth anniversary celebration and first-ever awards ceremony for the Doris Duke Artist Awards, the Doris Duke Foundation announced the newest class of Doris Duke Artists and revealed it is doubling the size of the prize.

Somi is preparing to make her debut performance at Carnegie Hall with her own band on November 18.  This highly-anticipated debut concert will offer a transatlantic mix of modern jazz, soul, and African pop, calling upon Somi's all-star tribute to the great “Mama Africa” on Zenzile.

Titled Déjà Vu (referencing a featured work by the same name), this iteration of Theatre For One revisits five selected works from the visionary and unconventional organization.

McCarter Theatre Center presents the world premiere musical Dreaming Zenzile, based on the life of Miriam Makeba, written and performed by Grammy-nominated international music sensation Somi. The show runs January 20 - February 13, 2022. 

The new season includes three New York Premieres and two brand new digital commissions, as they continue to roll out culturally centered programs throughout 2021. In addition, NBT is announcing the fifth Soul Producing Resident, Jordan Flemming, who will be in residence at NBT during this upcoming season.
