All-Star Jazz Ensemble Artemis Make Carnegie Hall Debut On December 7

On Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., jazz supergroup Artemis make their Carnegie Hall debut in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Each renowned for their outstanding solo work, these powerhouse musicians including Cécile McLorin Salvant (Vocals), Renee Rosnes (Music Director and Piano), Anat Cohen (Clarinet and Bass Clarinet), Melissa Aldana (Tenor Saxophone), Ingrid Jensen (Trumpet), Noriko Ueda (Bass), and Allison Miller (Drums) captivate audiences with bold new arrangements of classics by The Beatles to Thelonious Monk, as well as strikingly original compositions by the group's members.

Maurice Hines Opens Season at Bay Area Cabaret

Bay Area Cabaret opens its 16th season on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 7:30 pm with Broadway legend Maurice Hines performing Tappin' Thru Life. Backed by the acclaimed, all-female The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, and his tap protégés, The Manzari Brothers, Maurice will tap through his incredible career in a jazzy song-and-dance celebration that pays tribute to his late brother Gregorya?"with whom he appeared on the stage of The Venetian Rooma?"and other artistic influences, from Frank Sinatra to Lena Horne offering his distinctive take on American standards, like Luck Be a Lady, I've Got You Under My Skin, It Don't Mean a Thing (if It Ain't Got That Swing), and much more. 

Bryan Carter Presents JAZZ AT PRIDE Featuring Santino Fontana and More

On June 20, jazz prodigy Bryan Carter is proud to present JAZZ AT PRIDE, a one-night only concert event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ Community at (le) poisson rouge. The performance will feature a compilation of world-class musicians including Michael Blume, Linda Briceño, Cat Cohen, J. Hoard, Alphonso Horne, Brandon Lee, Sherrie Maricle, Michael Mwenso, Dida Pelled, Vuyo Sotashe, Charenee Wade, and 2019 Tony Award winner for Best Performance by a Leading Actor, Santino Fontana, all backed by the 22-piece Young Swangers Orchestra.

Take It Away Dance Brings Its 5th Anniversary Concert To The Philly's Newest Jazz Space, Drummers

The tap dancer, inventive choreographer, solo musician and Philadelphia native, Pamela Hetherington, brings her company Take It Away Dance to Drummers on Friday, June 21 for The Destination is the Downbeat, a new concert work that considers the notion of 'keeping time' in jazz music. Time is a feeling; it is swing, groove and rhythmic feel - the essence of tap dancing itself. For tap dancers, how they play time in jazz music has everything to do with who they are as musicians and as human beings. Rhythm is intimately personal and music is the original DM (direct message).
