Rob Ruggiero, Producing Artistic Director announced today that TheaterWorks  will present the Westport Country Playhouse's acclaimed production of THE INVISIBLE HAND by Ayad Akhtar, May 24 through June 23, 2018.  THE INVISIBLE HAND is the fourth show of TheaterWorks 32nd Season.

Bucks County Playhouse audiences will have the opportunity to revisit one of America's most storied musicals when it presents a world-premiere concert adaptation of Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern's legendary musical, "Show Boat," Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m.

The Muny announced today its complete cast and design team for the theatre's centennial season production of Gypsy, July 27 - August 2. Gypsy is proudly sponsored by Missouri Lottery.

Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero announced today that TheaterWorks 2018-2019 Season will include The River by Jez Butterworth, A Doll's House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath, Fully Committed by Becky Mode, and Actually by Anna Zeigler. The fifth and final production will be announced shortly.

Since ancient times, men have been dressing up as women to perform in a variety of settings. From ancient Japanese theater to Shakespeare's classics, a man in drag was something one just came to expect from the theatre. But in modern times, dressing in drag has taken on a much different meaning. For those who don a wig and strap on a fabulous pair of heels, drag is an escape from reality, a visceral and visual protest performed with a shiny, and often irreverent veneer. But, at its core, drag is about creating an outlet to overcome personal fears, anxieties, and shortcomings, in a larger than life way. These themes, and more, are on display in TheaterWorks newest production of Matthew Lopez' THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE.  

The Play That Goes Wrong will close The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' 2018-2019 Mainstage season.

TheaterWorks announced today a partnership with Hartford Consortium for Higher Education to provide FREE STUDENT RUSH TICKETS for all student members. The Hartford Consortium includes member schools, Capital Community College, Central Connecticut State University, Charter Oak State College, Goodwin College, Hartford Seminary, Manchester Community College, University of Saint Joseph, St. Thomas Seminary, Trinity College, UCONN Hartford and University of Hartford. Free Student Rush Tickets - all free, all the time - are available at the door an hour prior to performance based on availability. TheaterWorks announced today that they have received an Urban Act Grant in the amount of $2.5 million as a grant-in-aid from the Connecticut Bond Commission to assist with renovations and improvements to City Arts on Pearl, its home at 233 Pearl Street in downtown Hartford.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Beth Leavel will lead The Muny's production of GYPSY as Mama Rose! The production will feature direction by Rob Ruggiero, choreography by Ralph Perkins, and music direction by James Moore.

The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for The Muny's 2018 centennial season, which opens on June 11 with the first production in the world of Jerome Robbins' Broadway since it's Tony - award winning Broadway and national tour productions.
