The New York Drama Critics' Circle met on May 5, 2014, at the offices of Time Out New York magazine, to determine the winners of its 79th annual awards.

The winners of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards were just announced! The awards will be presented at a cocktail reception to be held on May 16 at 54 Below.

The 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night at NYU Skirball Center, hosted by acclaimed husband and wife actors and comedians, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. Music, Lyrics, and Book duo Michael Roberts and Charlie Schulman reunite once again after their recent production of The Fartiste, which had a successful run Off-Broadway in 2011-12 and West End Concert following its 2006 FringeNYC Outstanding Musical Award. Their newest venture, The Goldstein Variations, after concert presentations at the JCC in Manhattan, American University, and Abingdon Theater, will be seen by supporters at The Playroom Theater in a limited, developmental presentation from May 12th through 15th, open to the general public. The Goldstein Variations will be directed by Daniel Kutner.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons announced today a list of performers and speakers for its annual Spring Gala on Monday evening, May 5 at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled "IN THE BEGINNING," the evening will honor the theater company's Founding Artistic Director Bob Moss.

Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.

Stoneham Theatre has a lot to celebrate as they announce their 15th season. Selecting the slate of shows, however, proved to be challenging. 'Choosing an anniversary season is tough,' Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared. 'There is a lot of pressure to get it right. But, in the end, I found I just wanted to choose another season of plays and musicals that represents the kind of work that we love to do: a mix of the familiar and the new, the entertaining and the thought-provoking, and one completely unexpected surprise.'

TimeLine Theatre Company, acclaimed for presenting plays inspired by history that connect to today's social and political issues, announces its 2014-15 season, featuring all Chicago premieres, one slot dedicated to two plays presented on alternating nights, and the TimeLine debut of legendary Chicago actor Mike Nussbaum. The Open Fist Theatre Company announces that their critically acclaimed production, James Joyce's THE DEAD, book by Richard Nelson; music by Shaun Davey; lyrics conceived and adapted by Nelson and Davey; based on the short story by James Joyce. With choreography by Christine Sang, musical direction by Dean Mora and original direction by Charles Otte. James Joyce's THE DEAD is adding two performances, Thursday, Febraury 20 at 8pm and Sunday, February 23 at 8pmat Greenway Court Theatre, 544 North Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood.

The evening will be co-hosted by two of the company's alumni actors: two-time Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce (at PH in Richard Greenberg's The Maderati in 1987) and two-time Tony Award nominee, two-time Obie Award winner and 2012 Special Drama Desk Award winner Mary Testa (at PH in William Finn's In Trousers in 1979, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Lucky Stiff in 1988, Tom Donaghy's From Above in 1998/Obie Award and Kathleen Tolan's The Wax in 2000).

Playwrights Horizons presents the New York premiere production of STAGE KISS, a new play marking the eagerly-awaited return of two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl (Dead Man's Cell Phone at PH; The Clean House, In the Next Room...) to the theater company. Directed by Rebecca Taichman (Milk Like Sugar at PH; the current Marie Antoinette, Orlando, The Scene, Luck of the Irish), the production begins previews this evening, February 7 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Sunday, March 2 at 7PM. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, March 23 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).
