Viola Davis and More Honored at Trinity Rep's Pell Awards Tonight, 5/21

Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that Rhode Island's own Academy Award-nominated actress, Viola Davis, would be honored with the 2012 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 16th annual Pell Awards. Theater educator Elaine Foster Perry will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts, Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons will receive the Pell Award For Leadership in Arts Education, and J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center and Professional Facilities Management, will be honored as the recipient of the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. All awardees are past or current Rhode Islanders.

Richard Jenkins Joins the Cast of ONE SQUARE MILE

Academy Award-nominated actor Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor") and Cameron Bright ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") have joined the cast of Charles-Olivier Michaud's latest drama ONE SQUARE MILE. Written by scribes Josh Campbell and Jeff Van Wie, the film will be produced by Howard Burd and Micah Sparks of Phoenix Rising Motion Pictures, and Deborah Moore of Inner Primary Entertainment. Martin Harmon is executive producing for Phoenix Rising Motion Pictures. International sales are being handled by Lawrence Meyers, Bobby Meyers and Peter Rowley of Meyers Media Group. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in August with Seattle, Washington as a possible location.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will close its 15th season with the world premiere of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2 by Ian Finley, with music and lyrics by Thomas Hardy, Bruce Benedict, Jerome Davis and Jonathan Fitts. The production will run April 12 - May 5, 2012 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm (April 12 - 14, 19 - 21, 26 - 28 and May 3 - 5, 2012), Saturdays at 2 pm (April 21, 28 and May 5, 2012) and Sundays at 2 pm (April 15, 22, 29, 2012). Sunday, April 15 (Part 1) and Sunday, April 22nd (Part 2) at 2 pm are our 'Pay What You Can' days. Those performances will also be Audio Described. Tickets are $20 or $15 for students, seniors and active military. All tickets are $10 on Thursday evenings. For reservations and information, please call 919-834-4001 or visit www.burningcoal.org.

According to Deadline.com, GLEE's Jane Lynch has been cast in the indie film 'A.C.O.D'. She will co-star with previously cast Richard Jenkins and Adam Scott. The film is written by Stuart Zicherman and Ben Karlin and directed Zicherman. It is produced by Teddy Schwarzman with Black Bear Pictures and by Karlin and Tim Perell.
