Previews: SHUCKED at Straz Center

Quinn VanAntwerp who plays Gordy says, “The first moment I read this script I knew it was probably the funniest show I'd ever read.” That was over five years ago. Since then, he’s been embedded in the development of Shucked, helping it grow from a quirky concept to a Broadway hit, and now touring across the country.

Review: North American Tour of SHUCKED Serves Up Sweet Corn in Boston

Indeed, when those one-liners and puns are not only corny but all about corn, you just may want to surrender and let the laughs burst like Jiffy Pop, as they are on the North American tour of “Shucked,” the musical being presented by Broadway in Boston at Citizens Opera House now through April 20.

Review: SHUCKED National Tour at Durham Performing Arts Center

Shucked is a completely original musical set in the fictional Cob County. It tells an audacious farm-to-fable tale about the one thing Americans everywhere can't get enough of: corn. This project was partially derived from one of book writer Robert Horn's earlier projects, 2015's Moonshine: That Hee Haw Musical. Originally, the show was scheduled for a run in late 2020 at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. Yet it was subsequently cancelled due to the COVID-19.

Review: SHUCKED at Des Moines Performing Arts

It's a rare sight to see a giant inflatable ear of corn in the lobby of Des Moines Performing Arts, or to be offered a show-themed drink. But when a musical about corn comes to Iowa, it's time to pull out all the stops. This is exactly what they've done for 'Shucked,' which premiered Tuesday night at the Civic Center. I went in expecting a hilarious show about corn, and I got that. But I also left with a heartwarming story about community and family, a unique blend that's not to be missed.

The corn-fed comedy Shucked has officially taken root at Des Moines Performing Arts, delighting audiences with its pun-filled humor, heartwarming story, and toe-tapping country score. Playing now through February 2, 2025, this Tony-winning musical proves that sometimes, a little corniness is exactly what we need.

Review: SHUCKED National Tour Presented by Broadway In Chicago

SHUCKED is a corny musical...in the best way possible. Book writer Robert Horn and composer team Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally’s lyrics are chock-full (or should I say husk-full?) of puns, double entendres, and cringey punchlines. I was grinning ear-to-ear (of corn). SHUCKED is joyful, creative, and fun.

Review: SHUCKED at Walton Arts Center

If you mix the Hee Haw cornfield joke skits with a PG-13 RomCom, you get SHUCKED, which is playing at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville now through December 22nd. This hilarious Broadway musical (Book by Robert Horn with Music and Lyrics by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally) combines down-home humor with a heartwarming love story, filled with witty one-liners that will have you laughing non-stop.

Review: SHUCKED THE MUSICAL at Hobby Center For The Performing Arts

Shucked is a laugh-out-loud, toe-tapping triumph that plants itself firmly in your heart. This wildly original musical weaves together gut-busting humor, heartfelt storytelling, and unforgettable songs to create a truly one-of-a-kind theater experience. From the opening number to the final curtain, Shucked is a rollicking celebration of small-town charm and big-hearted dreams. The book, written with razor-sharp wit, delivers punchline after punchline while still packing an emotional punch. Each character feels vibrant and relatable, their quirks and struggles bringing the story of Cobb County to vivid life.
