The Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center unveils the 2019-20 season featuring a captivating collection of music, dance, comedy, speakers and family shows across five different performance series

Kristin Chenoweth has announced her seventh album, For the Girls, one of her most personal and compelling projects to date. The album is a tribute to some of the great singers who have influenced her, with Chenoweth's personally charged interpretations of 12 classic songs identified with such iconic artists as Barbra Streisand ('The Way We Were'), Eva Cassidy ('It Doesn't Matter Anymore'), Dinah Washington ('What a Diff'rence A Day Made'), Doris Day ('When I Fall In Love'), Patsy Cline ('Crazy'), Judy Garland ('The Man That Got Away'), Carole King ('Will You Love Me Tomorrow'), Eydie Gorme ('I Wanna Be Around') and Linda Ronstadt ('Desperado').

Kristin Chenoweth has announced her new album, For The Girls, according to Billboard. The album will feature Ariana Grande,Dolly Parton, Jennifer Hudson and Reba McEntire to salute great female singers who have come before them. 

Acclaimed Verve recording artist Brenna Whitaker will be appearing at The Purple Room in Palm Springs on Friday, September 20, at 8pm, and at Martinis Above Fourth in San Diego on Saturday, September 21, at 8pm, it was announced today by The Purple Room, Martinis Above Fourth, and Chris Isaacson Presents.

In a combined triumph for the Classic Popular Songbook, its purveyors and adherents, and the professionalism and perseverance of The Mabel Mercer Foundation, that unique organization presents its THIRTIETH annual New York Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Monday, October 28th and running through Thursday, October 31th. The four individual concerts will be offered at 6 o'clock each evening, and more than seventy-five vocalists and musicians are scheduled to perform.

THE GREEN ROOM 42 presents the return of Tony Award winner Cady Huffman in Miss Peggy Lee: In Her Own Words and Music for two more shows, Wednesday, July 24 and Wednesday, July 31.

I don't know if Benny Goodman “The King of Swing” ever performed at the original Birdland on Broadway at 52nd Street which was more known for the Bebop Jazz of Charlie Parker. However, his music was gloriously celebrated last night by John Pizzarelli and his special guest Clarinetist Ken Peplowski at the current Birdland on 44th Street. The link to the past was firmly established by the extraordinary artistry of Pizzarelli and Peplowski as they toured the Benny Goodman Songbook. The link was also established by the many stories both had about Benny Goodman. Ken Peplowski played in Benny's last band, and John's father Bucky was also was a featured guitarist with Goodman. In fact as John in his “Bucky Voice” recounted a funny story, when he was a youngster tagging along with Bucky John even got to strum a few notes for Benny Goodman until Bucky said “come on kid we gotta get home”! It was all smiles and happy swing music last night as John Pizzarelli and his trio with Ken Peplowski filled Birdland with great music and great conversation. MUSE/IQUE, Pasadena's pioneering performing arts organization, continues its second summer music series at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens on August 3 with TRAIN/GLORY, an evening celebrating the majesty of locomotives as mechanical muses through the lens of iconic film music. Director of Soho Estates Fawn James and Artistic Director Rachel Edwards together announce the opening programme for the Boulevard as the newly-reimagined venue opens its doors to the public for the first time in October 2019. The first show will be the London premiere of Dave Malloy's celebrated song cycle Ghost Quartet brought to life by the team behind the recent hit production of Sweeney Todd which won great acclaim in London and New York. Ghost Quartet will run alongside a packed roster of late-night and Sunday performances of cabaret, improv, jazz, comedy, classical music and poetry. The Boulevard Theatre's 2020 season will be announced in September.

After a sold-out run in June, the original theatre piece Miss Peggy Lee: In Her Own Words And Music is coming back by popular demand in July for two-nights-only on July 24th and July 31st at 7pm at The Green Room 42.
